LONEY, DEAR
Swede Emil Svanängen, plus friends, craft delicate indie-pop not so far removed from the delightful output of Belle & Sebastian and The Shins. Recently snapped up by Sub Pop in the US and a major label this side of the pond, this will be a rare opportunity to catch one of 2007’s brightest talents before they’re upgraded to larger venues.
And for free! Jeepers…
** HOUSE OF BROTHERS**
House Of Brothers is the solo – and sometimes not-so-solo – project of Andrew Jackson, formerly of acclaimed quirk-punks The Murder Of Rosa Luxemburg. His material is tender and heartfelt, and its unhurried pace is the polar opposite of the frenetic work of his previous group. With influences including Björk and Tom Waits, expect something rather magical.

DEREK MEINS
Derek used to be a member of Rough Trade-signed indie outfit Eastern Lane, heavily tipped and much acclaimed only a few years ago. Now embarking on a solo career, this Notting Hill performance is an opportunity to see and hear a talent that, as of this very moment, is simply growing and growing.
Entertainment before, between and after the acts comes courtesy of your friendly DiS DJs and Silver Rocket DJs. At the bar, expect to find some drinks offers - house beer and wine at cheap-ish prices, oh yes. Expect, also, to see at least one DiSser dancing foolishly to Loney, Dear after a Klug too many.
Fun times! Add the date to your gig calendar and see who else is attending by clicking here. Clever Nottingham folk will also be aware that DiS is hosting a club in that city, too, on January 13. Ox.Eagle.Lion.Man and more play Junktion 7 - click here for details.
Coming in February, we've a much heavier bill for your Saturday afternoon ears: Rolo Tomassi, Manatees and Down I Go grace the Notting Hill stage on the 17th. Check the details here.

Such a shame
Eastern Lane had to stop...
Was a good gig
First chap was a bit random, too many shouting poem type things between songs.
Second chap/act House Of Brothers was better. Although he stopped his set early because of talky drinky types. Listening to his ep he had now, which is nice.
Loney, Dear was the reason I came, and they definitely didn't disappoint. Played for a lot longer than I was hoping too. Awesome live band, reminds me how much I love all of his albums.
it was the shizzle wasn't it
and packed to the sweat drippy rafters.
and they covered something from God Hates Us All to
Mebbe this year Loney will finally tour with Slayer.
None of this Of Montreal or Arcade Fire nonsense
