Bullet (and Gallows) For My Valentine

Welsh metallers Bullet For My Valentine have rescheduled their recently cancelled tour dates for January 2007 and are taking "the best British punk band since The Clash" with them (Gallows).
There were unconfirmed reports of a candlelit vigil outside Hammersmith Apollo on Tuesday. Up to a thousand fans were reported to have engaged in silent prayer because they "missed Matt Tuck so much".
I thought that Kerrang! calling Gallows the best British etc. was a bit too much hyperbole because despite having seen the band several times this year and acknowledging that they are bloody brilliant, that's quite a claim. But then I had a think, and realised there really haven't been too many decent British punk bands since The Clash. I guess it's fair enough then.
Even more unconfirmed reports suggest there were several people that preferred to watch Gallows at London Metro last Friday than bother seeing My Vitriol be crap in Koko. I was at home with a bad back having a bubble bath.
As I Lay Dying are the other support and apparently there are still a few tickets left for the London date but that's because it's Hammersmith Apollo which is pretty bloody big. I reckon sticking Gallows on the bill will get those tickets shifted dead quick though. The dates!

can someone explain what people like about bullet for my valentine? aren't they exactly like trivium? and for that matter why do people like Trivium? especially when Baroness exist and would blast the haircut little fucks away.

but I tell you what, Gallows will give their crowd something to think about
strange pairing but if I went I would be leaving after Gallows played

Kerrang didn't say Gallows were better than the Clash, just the best thing since. And damn straight they are. I'd even sit through Bullet to see Gallows live.

Bullet for my Valentine make good metal/metalcore tunes (admittedly not all the time). People like melody and they like aggression and they bring it together in an appealing way. They are hyped but people who like their music are doing the hyping.
They are the same genre as Trivium but saying they are exactly the same is lazy.
From what I've heard of Baroness (a few tracks) they are good at what they do but I can't imagine too many people actually enjoying it.

mate if you are talking about melody and aggression in music then Baroness do it a fuck sight better than Trivium/Bullet for My Valentine, at least it's not horribly forced into a "melodic" chorus so that people can sing along and go "oh look, its the chorus, how wonderful"
So please, do enlighten, what is the fundamental and massive difference between Bullet for my Valentine and Trivium, are Trivium just more "aggressive", perhaps more "melodic"?

'As I Lay Dying'
is almost as bad a band name as 'Bullet For My Valentine'.
The fact Drowned in Sound takes such acts seriously does not show you're open minded to 'all sorts of rock music'. Its pretty embarrassing if anything. These bands are The Feeling of 'metal' music.

As I Lay Dying is nowhere near as bad as The Horrors or The Kooks or any of that tripe. They play metal, riffs and screming with very occasional melody. It's not like it's fucking gospel music, LOTS OF PEOPLE LISTEN TO IT.

Why the fuck is everyone ripping two of the best bands out there atm (trivium and bullet)? Im fucking huge fans of both, they sound nothing alike, and both fucking rock! I was at the birmingham bullet gig, gallows wernt too amazing, as i lay dying wer brilliant, and you cant beat bullet for a live performance, so fuck anyone that dislikes them!
