Doesn't this look good? No? Oh get out of my house...
The sixth in the well-selling series of compilation albums based on the television show The OC is out on December 4. In a neat twist to previous emo-filled editions, this album sees a variety of actually-very-good acts covering songs by other very-decent bands. Jeepers.
Acts featured include Lady Sovereign (pictured), Pinback, Mates Of State and Band Of Horses; songs are penned by the likes of Black Flag, The Sex Pistols, Modest Mouse and The New Year. Tracklisting below (songwriters in brackets)...
Goldspot - 'Float On' (Modest Mouse)
Rock Kills Kid - 'Turn My Camera On' (Spoon)
Lady Sovereign - 'Pretty Vacant' (The Sex Pistols)
Mates of State - 'California' (Phantom Planet)
Pinback - 'Wasted' (Black Flag)
John Paul White - 'Can't Get It Out Of My Head' (ELO)
Rogue Wave - 'Debaser' (The Pixies)
Syd Matters - 'Hello Sunshine' (Super Furry Animals)
Tally Hall - 'Smile Like You Mean It' (The Killers)
The M's - 'Come Into My Room' (Clinic)
Band of Horses - 'End's Not Near' (The New Year)
Chris Holmes - 'Into Dust' (Mazzy Star)
Lady Sovereign's 'Pretty Vacant', or at least a snippet of it, can be heard at her MySpace.

i wonder if
Goldspot will better Ben Lee's version of 'Float On'? cos that was impressive.. if a little odd!
I want this
But I'm scared of something bearing the OC on the front. Do I abandon principles purely to here Rogue Wave's take on Debaser...?
this sounds brilliant
and I love The OC. Winner.
when i went home i was surprised to hear
that my brother knew who the Postal Service were (he knows little to nothing about music) - then he informed me that they were the 'new thing' that all the posh kids in dublin liked, because they were ON THE OC.
oh i felt a bit sick
I fucking love The OC
Best written show on TV by a country mile.
Haha
Wasn't Chris Holmes the guitarist from WASP? Can't wait to hear his sensitive reworking of Mazzy Star...
Rogue Wave doing the Pixies!?
I just done a sex wee!
The O.C.
Is for those not left satisfied by the other daytime soap operas. All with a convenient primetime schedule.
thank god
that awful cover of Lover I Don't Have To Love isn't on there.
WTF Mike
A lot of the OC soundtracks have been pretty decent!
oc
Na don't sound that good, just sounds like the pretentious music they have playing quietly in club scenes or Ryans looking moody.
best written show...
i can only assume your fingers have gone on strike after being made to type that.
soaps are written by committee and turned over too quickly for any finesse, by sub-standard actors who've given up on a real acting career. That goes for the oc as much as any other.
Watch it you sour crackpot
Turned over too quickly, I ask you....
