Maiden's egging - the backstage story

Basically, Iron Maiden were closing the show in LA, but while doing so were pelted by eggs and bottle caps, as well as actually being spat at, by a group of people wearing Ozzfest laminates. The stage was invaded/rushed by members of the Osbourne-affiliated Black Label Society, and the PA was switched off six times during their set. Prior to their set, Sharon and daughter Kelly were seen encouraging people to join them in throwing eggs, etc, at Iron Maiden. Sharon later called Bruce Dickinson a prick in front of the 40,000-person crowd.

I imagine he probably said something. Dickinson's a top ranter on stage, and he's always been a bit high and mighty about the fact that Maiden never get played on the radio or MTV and still manage to have a solid fanbase. Clashes slightly with the Osbournes' promotional technique.
Sharon's a bitter old tart though. -

fair play to Maiden, they've been in the industry such a long time, and still very professional. i'd have prob ripped someones head off.....
Ozzfest/Shazza want to buck up their ideas, or is it all the money been thrown at them giving them big(ger) heads.

There's a statement from their manager Rod Smallwood at www.ironmaidon.com.
Whether Bruce Dickinson had been bad-mouthing Ozzy behind his back throughout the tour (all quite legitmate comments to be fair), surely the most professional thing would be to approach Bruce personally and sort it out face to face - not sabotage their performance throwing eggs like a bunch of kids at a school concert! Especially when you consider some 40,000 people had paid up to £150 dollars each to see Maidon (many would've seen Sabbath / Ozzy at plenty of ozzfests over the years).
She deserves everything they gets.

I hadn't realised it's pay to play for most of the bands on Ozzfest...I know they get tons of exposure but I thought that shitty practise had died out years ago.
It's been mentioned that High on Fire refused to pay the $50,000 or whatever to climb on board the tour. Iron Maiden refused to pay to put their name on the Ozzfest t-shirt too apparently.

What the fuck does a heavy metal show have to do with a war? Maybe they were bringing out an English flag because they are ENGLISH.
Trash like that makes me think that Americans almost deserve all the shit they get. I still think it's the few giving the many a bad name, but I'm less and less sure every day. -

They brought it out on stage during 'The Trooper' (as they ALWAYS do), hence Sharon 'the bitch' Osbourne's comments on him insulting the American troops in Iraq by flying a British flag on American soil.

Plus the guy waving it had written on his back 'don't mess with Ozzy' even though ozzy, Sharon and Black Sabbath are all English!

haha-seriously though, I've gained a lot of respect for maiden now. I think the whole rock community knows that the Osbournes are a fucking joke aimed at 10 year old girls.
Something tells me Maiden will be bringing a LOT of fire to leeds on friday!

I personally find the funniest part is that Sharon referred to herself as "The REAL Iron Maiden". Last time I checked she'd had a shit load of surgery and was about as real as Jordan. She's little more than a savvy woman who has clung to her meal ticket and exploited him for all he is worth even though he is little more than a zombie these days. I think most of us could have done without seeing Ozzy's family and realising how fucked up they all are to begin with, let alone bollocks like this because now she is "famous" she has an ego as big as Kelly's head.
