Thom Yorke: fond of disappearing, completely

Thom Yorke has revealed his favourite Radiohead song of all time.

The band's singer - pictured - told BBC 2's The Culture Show that his personal pick of Radiohead's many and varied songs was 'How To Disappear Completely, available on the album Kid A.

Yorke explained his decision: "Because it's the most beautiful thing we ever did, I think."

NME readers voted 'The Bends' the band's finest song earlier this year; you can watch and hear a live version of 'How To Disappear Completely', recorded for MTV2, here.

It is a great track

but I have to say that Exit Music (For A Film) would give it a run for it's money.

Indeed.

He actually said that Exit Music was the first recording the band made "where every note makes me really happy," so I guess that would be pretty high on his list too.

didn't

the nme willys vote for just?

that was my understanding

beautiful doesn't mean best anyway. i vote for pnchdrunk lovesick singalong for beautiful.

punch

i mean

'The BEnds' - such an average song

Pyramid Song/Everything In Its Right Place are their best two songs.

He's wrong...

it's The Tourist

you're wrong

it's Idiotheque

Oeuvre

If you roll-over that ad you get 'Easy Lover' by Phil Collins blared obnoxiously into your face. This song is easily better than anything in Radiohead's dreary ouvere.

who would have thought...

that loads of people could have conflicting opinions about something as open and shut as a band's 'best' song?

crazy.

and it's obviously the version of Fake Plastic Trees from 'Live @ The 10 Spot'.

:)

it's clearly

gagging order

its pure estacy live

if I died there & there when they played it at V, i would have been so happy

errrr...

2+2=5 is gooooood

Karma pOlice.

Is the best, have you heard it? It's really good.

Good choice Thom

it's really, really soul meltingly beautiful.

i would have thought he would have said...

There There, it made him cry when i recorded it, or so the legend goes.

why does every mention of radiohead

feature at least one comment thick with pointless negativety. I'm sure these people don't post vapid, negative comments on every review or article relating to a band they dislike - why do they save up the bitter energy for radiohead?

Hmmm

Let Down is my personal favourite.

yeah...

that's right, when i did that

I think

It's because Radiohead's importance is SO overstated, and their die-hard fans so humourless.
It's like the Manic Street Preachers all over again.

How does it go?

Is that the one where he says hes a creep or something? man that songs so deep.

If i could be arsed

I would now list every single readiohead song I could think of. But I can't.

2+2=5 is probably my favourite. Or Pyramid Song. Or Like Spining Plates.

Any of them.

Yeah, I've heard your version

It made me weep too

definitely my favourite Radiohead track

but then I've hated everything they've released since Ok Computer so what do I know?

WELL...

they apparently can't stand Let Down. i think.

i may have made that up

for the benefit of my playlist:

live version of LSP or Amnesiac?

I don't believe you.

precisely

nothing.

you silly person :P

amnesiac

live you and whose army

if anyone mentions

nice dream as a favourite i will kill them

I can almost agree with that

my favourite changes regularly, but it's usually from a group of songs.
It's a fairly large group though...
How To Disappear Completely, Everythign In It's Right Place, Lucky, Airbag, 2+2=5, The Gloaming, Where I End and You Begin, Just, Street Spirit, etc... You get the idea.

I think

How to Disappear...is my favorite radiohead song...

ME

Life In A Glasshouseis my favourite.

Fog comes a close second.

we suck young blood

with big handclaps

i think too

who caares anyways...it's all just noise, and all this best thing just keeps moving

how can you choose

i love it all!!

Not sure about that

But I think they've never played it live because they couldn't work out how to.

Or something.

me too

thats definately one of my favourites.
that and iron lung

Did anyone see the interview?

He's really, really, really, REALLY weird.

And he looks increasingly like Richard Thompson these days.

But I love him so.

this sounds weird...

...radiohead are my favourite band of all time, ever.

yet i really, really don't like the members of the band anymore, in terms of personality. i find them extremely humourless.

yet i can't deny they are my favourite band ever.

my head is about to explode in confusion.

also, 'just' is their best song of all time. thom yorke, despite knowing more about the songs and their worth than i, is wrong.

idioteque

rocks my socks.
And yes, Radiohead are my favourite band.

If he said so...

If you just care for the musical part of the song, I think I would voted for Polyethylene or Molasses or Pyramid Song or Bangers n` Mash or INDIA RUBBER or Bones or Morning Bell or Meeting in the Aisle or Nude or TALK SHOW HOST or Big Boots, (it’s a shame they didn’t finish that one!) etc, etc. But if we talking about the lyrics of the song it would be even harder to choose just a few. By the way, clearly that song means a lot for him, aaalways an unhopeful song.

anyone can play guitar

hahahahahaha

the whole of kid a.

no,YOU're wrong

the best for me is Paranoid android...but if the man says that How to disappear completely is the most beautiful thing they ever did, this is how he feels...so shut the fuck up.he CAN'T be wrong...

indeed

there there is amazing
