Tickets are priced at £27.50, subject to booking fee. Subject to availability, tickets will increase in price from June 1st to £37.50. Available online from wegottickets.com

There ain't quite a festival like it. Only in the heartland of Oxfordshire in the English summer could something like this happen, every year. It's like Glastonbury probably used to be but with a truck parked in the middle of a field and a barn stage, which is in fact a barn. If you've not been before, perhaps some seasoned festival goers can comment below in no less than 50 words why you should go...

I'm guessing theres camping over night and stuff right? I've never been but Im thinking of doing truckfest and maybe summer sundae instead of leeds this year.

Looks hmmmm, but YMSS are playing, so I'm still going...

Re: Truck is 8! Biffy! Patrick Wolf! Magic Numbers! +m

Truck ain't really about the lineup. If you want endless streams of 'name' bands there are bigger festivals. Truck is small, in a really good way. And Patrick Wolf is playing. Wooo!

Re: Truck is 8! Biffy! Patrick Wolf! Magic Numbers! +m

What? How do you know YMSS are playing?

Re: Truck is 8! Biffy! Patrick Wolf! Magic Numbers! +m

I don't know much about them other than that they are some kinda Spinal Tap-esque band maybe? And everyone seems to hate them?

Truck is 8! Biffy! Patrick Wolf! Magic Numbers! +m

Everyone says that the Magic Numbers are ace live as well, I've never heard them tho so don't blame me if they're shit.

Patrick Wolf, yes!

Re: Truck is 8! Biffy! Patrick Wolf! Magic Numbers

I don't want 'name' bands, I don't like 'name' bands, it's just that those 'name' bands are all a bit hmmmmmm.

Truck is 8! Biffy! Patrick Wolf! Magic Numbers! +more!

the best thing about truck isn't the bands named above. its the bands you stumble across who you have never heard of and are amazing. i've been for the last 3 years and have stumbled across 65daysofstatic, captive state, the brakes, villareal, fi-lo radio and probably more.

disappointed the towers are playing; they are shit! can't wait to see magic numbers and trademark, have heard many good things about them.

Truck is 8! Biffy! Patrick Wolf! Magic Numbers! +more!

Trcuk Festical is amazing.

It was the first festival I've ever been to, and it was a brilliant one to choose.

Yay!

Re: Truck is 8! Biffy! Patrick Wolf! Magic Numbers! +m

They're the new Pistols. They can't play and have no songs, but they are EXTREMELY talented at making a crowd angry, like Selfish Cunt. They look like Motley Crue, but Razorlight are way more Tappish.

Re: Truck is 8! Biffy! Patrick Wolf! Magic Numbers! +more!

Hopefully, I will again, by the way.

Truck is 8! Biffy! Patrick Wolf! Magic Numbers! +more!

woo milo. go team!

what more reason do u need to go?

Truck is 8! Biffy! Patrick Wolf! Magic Numbers! +more!

That looks ace! And i've got someone to go with me too. Yey. :-)

Fonda 500 are the bestest band in the world. This will be the fourth time I have seen them.

Looking forward to seeing Editors as well. I hope YMSS are there too.

Ace ace ace.

I'm off to practice putting my tent up.

Truck is 8! Biffy! Patrick Wolf! Magic Numbers! +more!

yeah yeah yeah yeahor

Truck is 8! Biffy! Patrick Wolf! Magic Numbers! +more!

Gah! The fucking Losers of London????

Maybe I will go with a supply of bricks...

...Lead bricks.

...With nails in them.

Re: Truck is 8! Biffy! Patrick Wolf! Magic Numbers! +more!

Is it just me or are Biffy completely dullsville?

Truck is 8! Biffy! Patrick Wolf! Magic Numbers! +more!

Any news on that 'confusing' ticket system?

'cos for the money i've got an e-mail with a number on it instead of a physical ticket....

Truck is 8! Biffy! Patrick Wolf! Magic Numbers! +more!

Go!!!!!!!!!!!

Truck is hailed as the new glastonbury im telling u. I went last year and it was so so so unique. just a few pointers:
- new bands. more new and unknown great bands than u could dream of
- yes theres camping, only on saturday night mind but theres a cute little camping atmosphere still going on
- the second stage is a barn. yes. u can still feel the shit under your feet
- rotary club doing the burgers, no dodgy overpriced kebab vans
- old ladies dealing out penny sweets
- only 3000 people !!! (or there were last year at least)
- and for all u celebrity spotters, the bands all wander thru the fields between u guys checking out the scene

legendary. and all under £30...

u know its right,
see ya at the front for ymss... jen xxx

Truck is 8! Biffy! Patrick Wolf! Magic Numbers! +more!

Hi! Quick Update: Magic Numbers are shit derivative pub rock bollocks with no inventiveness and very few tunes. That is all.

Re: Truck is 8! Biffy! Patrick Wolf! Magic Numbers! +more!

Spot on Jenna! Just a little additional, also confirmed this year are Dive Dive.

Truck is 8! Biffy! Patrick Wolf! Magic Numbers! +m

Last year's truck was amazing. 80s Matchbox were truely great. I also saw a quaint little band called The $hit who got me smiling. Looking forward to Patirck Wolf this year.

The best thing however is the feeling of not being ripped-pff at every junction. It's the ripping-off that annoyes me about Reading, especially the whol 'having to pay if you want to know when bands are actually on' thing. None of these shenanigans at Truck. Crossdressing Barmaids/men, icecreams, banana smoothies, the barn that stinks of shit.God I love Truck. Everyone's so friendly as well!

Re: Truck is 8! Biffy! Patrick Wolf! Magic Numbers

yeah they are the barren wasteland on the other side of dullsville

Truck is 8! Biffy! Patrick Wolf! Magic Numbers! +m

Truck rules.

We aren't playing this year though.

xx

Re: Truck is 8! Biffy! Patrick Wolf! Magic Numbers

You forgot the clean toilets!

The fact that you can just wander around whenever you like

The vicar's sweet shop

The banana stand!

Wine by the glass & cider by the crate! And the Cider Wasps.

It's 1/50th Glastonbury and well worth the trip. There are lots of local bands to top up the line-up but that only makes me wish the Midlands had an equivalent festival instead of the comercialist V and elitist Splendid Afternoon.

Hopefully other bands like The Shinings, Bob Slayer Project, Amityville, The Lovegods etc. are to be anounced...

Truck is 8! Biffy! Patrick Wolf! Magic Numbers! +more!

no one answered my question :-(.

oh and the magic numbers ae shit, boring uninventive spew. ycnimilo should rock though

Re: Truck is 8! Biffy! Patrick Wolf! Magic Numbers! +m

Really not!!!!
Oh, that is a shame...I will have to make do with your next few gigs then.

Re: Truck is 8! Biffy! Patrick Wolf! Magic Numbers! +more!

Yes there is camping, and great fun it was last year too!

Woo-hoo! Just booked my ticket. Only decided to go this morning, but decided to act fast so not to miss out. I've never been before, but I'm definitely having me one of that vicar's ice-creams!
It sounds cracking, so let's hope the weather is good.

Re: Truck is 8! Biffy! Patrick Wolf! Magic Numbers

Read the faq on the site you paid on - just take the card you paid with and photo ID. It's a ticketless system (yet you still pay £5 fee for booking two tickets...) you just print & go.

What happens at Truck if it rains? is it like/as bad as Glastonbury?
xg

Re: Truck is 8! Biffy! Patrick Wolf! Magic Numbers! +more!

If it rains, you will get wet!
Seriously though, it wont rain-it didn't last year!

Truck is 8! Biffy! Patrick Wolf! Magic Numbers! +more!

nothing too inspriring but as jb said, it's not about the bands...

Re: Truck is 8! Biffy! Patrick Wolf! Magic Numbers

Both Glastonbury and Truck are now fine when it rains due to adequate drainage. And with 3/4 of Truck's stages being indoors there really isn't a problem if it tips it down (unless you happen to be playing onthe Truck Stage at the time).

It DID rain last year, but only for about 10 minutes.

It's a great festival, especially if you are close, but we did get weird looks from the local kids on the bus with their single mini rucksacks and packed lunches as we had propper camping gear!

Re: Truck is 8! Biffy! Patrick Wolf! Magic Numbers

they really arent dull.
really.
theyre fantastically inventive and eccentric and resourceful and tender and hard and great.

a bit kiddy sometimes, but a fucking great band, and to call them dull suggests that you just havent actually listened to them.

Truck is 8! Biffy! Patrick Wolf! Magic Numbers! +m

towers of london at truck:
does this strike anyone as A REALLY BAD IDEA?

while truck has plenty of aggressive, noisey bands, surely a band based purely on having a bad attitude and pissing people off/assaulting audience members/vandalising venue equipment is totally incogruous to the feel of the festival (obviously the organisers know the feel of the festival better than i do, but i'm genuinely concerned.)

well, at least i can laugh at them without having to pay to see them on their own.

Re: Truck is 8! Biffy! Patrick Wolf! Magic Numbers! +m

I thought the same.
The fact they've been slagging off DiS on stage and apparently want several DiS writers heads on sticks doesn't really thrill me either.
Maybe we can hope it was just a typo.

Re: Truck is 8! Biffy! Patrick Wolf! Magic Numbers

but would they be DiS writers who make up pseudonyms to slag off bands (quite rightly in my opinion)?

(i read this reply at first without checking which post it was replying to -i posted elsewhere in this thread- and thought that you were talking about biffy. which confused me not a little.)

and a typo?
gotta wonder what they were trying to type if they came out with Towers Of London. maybe theres a band that are playing called "bunch of cunts with good management a la MSP" and someone in the office thought they were refering to ToL?

Re: Truck is 8! Biffy! Patrick Wolf! Magic Numbers

the toilets are just as shit as anywhere else.
really.
cant blame them, but they are horrible.

Truck is 8! Biffy! Patrick Wolf! Magic Numbers! +more!

Alcxxk, thou art the last angry man.

Seriously though, Towers of London must die.

Ahem, Go Truck!

Re: Truck is 8! Biffy! Patrick Wolf! Magic Numbers

and you fucking love it.

and ido naughty things in your bed.

Truck is 8! Biffy! Patrick Wolf! Magic Numbers! +more!

Sounds like a great festival and the fact that they've got Biffy headlining makes it even better.

I can't see why anyone doubts Biffy?
Well they obviously haven't seen them live before. When Biffy go on stage they completely own it and are full of confidence, style and individualism. They are probably the best live band Britian has but still people fail to stand up and take notice of there amazing talent and skill.

It really pisses me off how awsome bands like Biffy and ycni:m for that matter aren't given a chance in todays rock industry. They just seem sort of unknown to be honest. It gets to me that TWATS like Pete Doherty gets on NME for drug abuse and sticking his head up his own arse while worthwhile talented bands await in the shadows for there opportunity to be noticed and be seen as one of the greatest bands in Britian.

Anyways this is such a rant... never the less Biffy will do a brilliant job headlining and i'm sure it will be something special like all Biffy gigs are.

I stay too far away from Oxford or wherever... me is so jelous of you Truck fest go-ers

Skib

Truck is 8! Biffy! Patrick Wolf! Magic Numbers! +m

Looks great

To me, nowadays it's all about the smaller festivals - I cannot WAIT for TMF this year and Truck looks like it'll be great again as well

I really couldn't give a shit about paying a fortune to watch the big names, i'd rather just have a great time and discover some totally new bands

Re: Truck is 8! Biffy! Patrick Wolf! Magic Numbers! +m

Another TMF & Trucker... thumbs up!
