Punk goes bootleg crazy: 'mash-up' record due...

An American production team is working on a punk-rock 'mash-up' record, cutting and pasting different parts of various punk-cum-post-hardcore tracks in a bootleg styleeee...

The Legion Of Doom (weren't they a wrestling duo, back in the old days?) are working on the compilation, which'll see the light of day, in the US at least, through Antagonistic Records.

Tracks due to appear include 'I Know What You Buried Last Summer' (Taking Back Sunday vs Senses Fail), 'Dottie In A Car Crash' (The Get Up Kids vs Thursday) and 'The Quiet Screaming' (Dashboard Confessional vs Brand New).

No word on the title yet, or if the compilation will reach the UK (we imagine it'll be a massive import release if it doesn't), but we'll keep y'all posted.

wasn't (note past tense) the original appeal of 'mash-ups' - aside from the 'thrilling' illegality - the melding together of disparate genres? Surely as alot of punk/hardcore tracks are based on a similar template then surely they'd sound similar anyway? it's like putting raps other other hip hop beats, it's gonna fit but it's not gonna be as 'clever'/accidental as, say, 'Strokes of Genie-ous' or Evolution Control Commitee? meh.
