I went to see Gomez on my birthday once, at Portsmouth Guildhall. I think I was 19, maybe 20. It was horrible. That is all.

i saw gomez at summer sundae...
just done, they were alrite... i know surprisingly little of their work - and that doesn't sadden me.
No Tijuana Lady?
That's a bit foolish considering it was one of only a few decent songs they wrote...whacking 'Whipping Picadilly' on first is also a schoolboy error.
hella buch of bsides there
which is a good call, cos they the good stuff.
I might stick this on my christmas list
seeing as I had their first two albums, but they both got stolen by an angry girl from essex. I hadn't been too bothered by this but I've heard their first album again recently at a friends house and it sounded goooood.
This sounds like
they are going to be leaving us?!?!
A little sad maybe but definitely overdue.
I'm sure they could've squeezed their "best of" into a single 20 track cd (obviously consisting mainly of material from Bring It On).
I think I'll pass on this.
WHERE IS 'MAKE NO SOUND'?!?!?!
!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!??!
I like this band
but surely one disc would have been enough. My favourite tracks aren't on there too (Here Comes The Breeze, Free to Run, Tijuana Lady, Buena Vista).
Saw
them at summer sundae too. Best bits were all off first two albums, one track from new LP promising but most distinctly average. Redeeming feature was a nice cover of Nick Drake's Black Eyed Dog. Seems to me they've lost all sense of the creative and experimental attitude that gained them fans in the first place.
Tbh
You should just buy 'Bring It On'. Whatever crap they may have produced, I won't hear a word against that album.
Well, I will, but I would disagree.
i think its a deliberate attempt not to clash with album sales
i think every track there was from the singles, i guess reorganised to run well.
I quite like Gomez
havent heard anything they've done since In Our Gun, but, nothing against em, were dead good live the twice I saw em (missed Elliot Smith at Leeds 2000 to see them, dont particularly regret it, as they were as ace as he probably would have been, and my 16 y o self was familiar with Gomez)
it looks like
a deliberate attempt from virgin to ruin sales of their new album..
i saw gomez at the guildhall too.
i was abysmally drunk. and very young.
is it just me, or is this best of WAY too long?
and, echoing what others have said...
no tijuana lady? no here comes the breeze?
and again, 36 tracks...fookin hell.
I thought
that this was going to be a joke thread, like when the NME's Thrills Section did a 'Best Of The Boomtown Rats' and left the tracklisting blank.
Next week: Sleeper announce details of a 6 CD, career-defining box set! Dweeb premier their long-awaited 'Live At Pompeii' DVD! And The Stone Roses... oh, don't be silly.
