Steve Turner: not fond of new-wave punks, presumably
Mudhoney guitarist Steve Turner is to release his new 'solo' album on August 28 through Funhouse Recordings.
New Wave Punk Asshole sees Turner joined by his Bad Ideas - Johnny Sangster, Jim Sangster and Kevin Warner - for a whopping sixteen tracks, the first new material from Turner since Mudhoney's Under A Billion Suns LP.
A more in-your-face effort than previous Steve Turner records (so the press blurb says), New Wave Punk Asshole features a handful of 60s garage rock nuggets alongside a slew of swaggering pre-alternative alternative tracks. Yup, we're reading that press release again...
Turner is no stranger to side projects to his Mudhoney day job, of course: he has previously played in The Fall-Outs, The Monkeywrench (alongside Mark Arm), and the Throw Ups. Like, woooot.

"pre-alternative alternative"
I think I know what he means. I've been listening to loads of Children Of Nuggets stuff and things like Flamin' Groovies which sounds like it could have come from the early '90s garage rock scene, but actually it's '60s. Also, The Makers, but they're the other way round.
