In her test-screen coloured American Indian head dress and Geisha-ish cape, Karen O went beyond any Alien-chic look Bjork or Ms. Moss could ever hope to bring to Glastonbury. Standing before a giant eye ball backdrop, the otherworldly Queen of alt/indie-rock yelped, writhed and curtsied to the crowd's demons. Meanwhile, Nick Zinner expelled melodious walls of technicolor noise and Dave Pajo's key taps zapped a new aesthetic into Brian Chase's utterly under-rated drumming. And the result? Well, yuhknow, it was something like the phenomenon we've come to expect from New York's finest hipster slayers. "A genuine Glastonbury moment" as Jo Whiley would say.
