It's May, which LITERALLY only means one thing: it is ATP time again. For many of us a source of joy - two weekends of chalet-dwelling, indie rockin' delight by the seaside, the likes of which would have Billy Butlin weeping salty tears of salty tears of joy that his vision had been perfected (probably during Mike Diver's DJ set). For others (not least the Butlins staff), a chance to grumble about how ATP and the people who go there are definitely everything that's wrong with everything.
Anyway, as has become our wont, DiS has compiled a couple of Spotify mixtapes by way of preview/giving you a taste of some bands you may not have heard of/confirming the prejudices of people not going.
First up we've got this weekend's ATP Vs The Fans Part II, which in the name of being predictable we've made a tape featuring one song by every band who actually has material on Spotify, all shoved into a loosely sensible order (gets a bit bogged in folk around the three quarter mark, but whaddayagonnado?).
You can enjoy it here:
We pondered doing exactly the same for the following weekend (May 15-17)'s ATP curated by the Breeders, but given the comparatively mainstream line up, my low boredom threshold, and a suspicion more people are excited about Bon Iver than A REALLY RARE SHOW FROM ONE OF THE GREATEST BANDS EVER, I instead here humbly entreat that you listen to a 20-track introduction to the works of the Throwing Muses, who'll be playing their first UK gig since 2002 on the Friday night.
Give it a listen here:

And by way of apologies to the curators, here's their finest hour:
Video: The Breeders: 'Cannonball'
And if the wild subjectivity contained therein makes you angry, then please post your own list below.
For non-Spotify users, the full track-listings are:

OI!
What about 'Throwing Muses' (the more recent one that is). THat's on Spotify - what about Epiphany or Mercury or somesuch eh????
If I'd done 25 tracks I'd have put something like Flying on there
and probably something from Limbo (which Kristin thinks is the best album!) but didn't want to base cover for the sake of it, and this is just a wee intro, like; if 50 Foot Wave had been playing, on the other hand...
This is based on the recent Australian setlist
http://open.spotify.com/user/shimmetry/playlist/6cT66d9zvXauPMjnilKKPN
though I would prefer it if the chose the setlist from your list...that's mighty fine.
Throwing Museless
I'm ashamed to say that I have no Throwing Muses albums in my collection, so if they're selling any at the ATP Festival when I'm there next week, what should I start with?
Give the playlists a whirl and see what you like
but The Real Ramona is their best 'pop' album, Untitled (packaged in In A Doghouse) is their best FUCK MUMMY I'M SCARED OF THE CRAZY LADY album
thanks
I think I prefer the description of a FUCK MUMMY I'M SCARED OF THE CRAZY LADY rather than a 'pop' album..!
