Kaiser Chiefs bassist Simon Rix loves... Three Dimensional Vector Calculus & Drumming

We've heard that Kaiser Chiefs' keyboard player Peanut loves Photography and that Ricky loves the Radio (which perhaps might both seem a little bit obvious) but then along comes bassist Simon Rix...

Three Dimensional Vector Calculus

I've not had much use for this skill over the last few years, but I love maths and 3-D Vector Calculus is the favourite thing I ever learnt. Yes, I know, it's very post hardcore of me. It's obviously very useful for something, but that's not why I liked it. I love the sense of achievement you get from solving some massive equation, crunching your way through it for hours and at the end you have the answer (or sometimes just another question). And it can be totally random and useless, but I like that even more.

Drumming

Even though I'm a bass player, I love drumming. I've got a kit at home. Unfortunately I'm not massively good. Me and Nick started playing drums at the same time when we were at school. I had a kit that we both used to practice on because Nick didn't have one. Things have changed though and I got to play his kit at our Elland Road sound check. I honestly think that was better than the gig for me. If I was going to do anything else in a band I'd love to be a drummer, I'd have a lot of practicing to do first.

the words

'Three Dimensional Vector Calculus' on the frontpage brought a little smile to my face.

Good to see his grammar

is as good as his mathematics

Totally this^

Had to do a double take.

*Practising

PRACTISING!

respect +1

from a maths student

Sorry DiS...but after the last 3 weeks, i've toddled over to The Quietus

and have taken my pipe, slippers and comfy pyjamas with me. Having now left the wife, i doubt i'll want to return any time soon. Bye.
