We &hearts #1: Lovvers

There are bands we love that bit more than others and the standard interview fare can get a bit, well, dull and reveal very little beyond the standard wikipedia entry.

Bands on the whole are intriguing creative beasts, sometimes living in a somewhat parallel world to the rest of us. Or rather, some of them have just that bit more time and due to to touring, opportunity to discover and be exposed to things the rest of us struggle to find time to explore. We get to know what music makes them tick with our mixtapes but there's so much more to life than music, and so much more that inspires musicians than other melodious noise.

For this new feature we have one simple request: 'please tell us five things you love'. We're not gonna get psychoanalytical, we'll leave that to you.

With the release of their new EP (9/10 review) and with a name too apt not a draw a line to our new feature, we fired off an email to Lovvers** and this is what came back...

  1. SIMON ROSE

Some may think this guy’s a myth but he truly exists, he is sometimes seen onstage or carrying amps, he’s the closest we’ll get to a 5th member. If you don't know who he is then he deserves your attention.

  1. POP PUNK

The forgotten genre?

  1. BASELABS

This is where we practice, it’s a converted basement in Nottingham, it is run by a semi professional builder called Simon Ashdown (he also recorded our record) it’s an amazing place, filled with old bits of equipment and records. Sadly he has been recently served papers to leave, but we’re hoping he finds an equally suitable space.

  1. THE INTERNET

What an amazing and curious resource!

  1. THAI VEG BUFFET

Probably the most visited eatery on tour, falafel and subway are also popular choices, but when you’ve not eaten properly for days then this is really gets you back on track.

_"There you go; we have a record coming out on September 29th  and we’re playing a lot, go check.

Lovvers"_

DiScuss: psychoanalytic reactions? Who should we quiz in future features?

I love Lovvers

awww <3

Someone

with a bit more to say maybe?

Lovvers:

most over-rated band in the world right now?

Poor band

and an entirely uninteresting feature.

Pop punk isn't forgotten, but thankfully Blink 182 is

I've only myspace'd Lovvers, so I'll look for aforementioned ep.

Truck

I saw them at truck and was quite disapointed, didn't really enjoy them that much and they sounded a little like a sex pistols tribute band. The Highlight of their set being how worried the sound technitions looked when he jumped on the speaker.

They are playing in York on the 6th I think so i will probably catch them again. Hopefully they will be better in a smaller venue like the basement.

yeah mate

what the 5 things you love?

you, yer mum, yer dad and yer gran? and a bucket of vindaloo?

what a

curious little feature.

The feature has potential

to be pretty interesting!!

Fingers crossed for longer, more detailed answers next time though! :)

I do dig a good thai buffet ...

...

The feature has potential but email interviews are awful at best - and this proved more so.

The EP really didn't do much for me either.

.

mediocre five things from a mediocre band

nothing special

stop hyping up mediocre bands that you've seen supporting mediocre bands that you've hyped up, DiS

NO

to the above three comments. Lovvers = amazing. I could go on about this at length, but as well as that pretty much summing it up, I have done already regards the EP, and I'm t-i-r-e-d.

I will say, however, that I find it hard to see how anyone can listen to it - and I mean really, listen - and not be moved or at least excited to some capacity. I came to it expecting to be impressed and enjoy, but nowhere near as much as I am.

Great band

rather brief feature.

great band.

better than your band. solid gold gents.

get the new ep.

and the 3rd 7", which is still available from JF.

www.jonsonfamily.com - ok?

(jag)

x

yes

sirreeee

if you have followed lovvers in any capacity

you'll see they don't much care for interviews and whatnot. They tend to answer everything with something along the lines of 'its just music, listen to it' i think its quite refreshing in a blank sort of way.
