Your are viewing a read-only archive of the old DiS boards. Please hit the Community button above to engage with the DiS !
Or you could say "Let's stop posts about unknown bands clogging up the main communities by moving them to their own community where no-one will ever look at them."
I'm just looking at the low number of replies to the posts on this community.
I think it's a good idea to have a board solely for plugging your music, if you post it on the music board it'll no doubt disappear to the bottom of the page in minutes, never to be seen again. And look at iamwiggy's thread, over 100 replies, and he's had the courtesy to listen to most of the bands who have posted! Also, don't forget that not everyone has all the time in the world to listen to every single band that wants people to check them out. Are you quite bitter about the new board then?
I think that for a community of people to be genuinely interested in and share each other's work and advice it will take a bit of time to grow
at the moment it is a bit of a 0 reply fest because I don't think folks have figured out how to use it
Posting a link to a myspace and saying 'check it out!' isn't really going to do much either here or on the music board. Posting a link to a specific song and saying something about that song or asking for advice or comment on that song or perhaps an aspect of it will probably be more rewarding
People who just sign up to DiS to post a link to their band will get back what they put in
I listened to 3 or your band's myspace tracks but was holding off making comment until I'd listened to the rest
at first i was sceptical, but it's actually a great spot, i don't leave many comments but do listen to the bands, good work anschul i seem to remember you starting some thread about setting it up.
but it's hardly an original idea so I can't really take credit for it - though I would obviously like it to bring some success over time
most dance music sites have a forum like this which caters very well to the fact that a lot of them are populated by DJs and producers of varying degrees
Here in the slightly indier world I thought it might cater to the general listener, the blogger, promoters and maybe some underground or not so underground radio people are listening in - who knows
but the people who read and post on DiS do like (and are very knowledgeable about)a remarkably wide range of genres and subgenres so yeah, I made a suggestion
now listen to my band
all about giving people a place they feel comfortable in shearing and talking about their own music. Just giving a place for the young tallent and smaller peeps to get noticed a bit better instead of in amongst loads of threads on animal colective and the national.
is this est thing this site has done in a long time...
much enjoyment I am having indeed
BATTLE FOR PARIS
technical, off kilter, UK hardcore
Maybe they are, but it doesn't seem to change much.
but i've never noticed you commenting on anyone else's tunes
so I'd rather keep quiet than insult people.
goodness indeed is just a great place to mybe hear something new and exciting that you would not hear otherwise...
