What the fuck? This is shitty news.
Any other venues closing around the country?
panic over. Any idea when?
I dunno - a similar thing happened at Polar Central (now The Hope) and it took a couple of months to sort out...they were also having a refurb at the time I think which may have been why it took longer.
at The Hope?
I saw iLiKETRAiNs there and Bedouin Soundclash
I LOVE BadOwen's Soundsystem.
haha I didn't actually see that it was you who had asked if anyone good had played there. I'd asumed it was still don_swayze talking to me.
Why you little!
i hope this doesn't happen, i'm moving to Brighton in September and this was a major reason i wanted to go :(
because of the Free butt?
it is a gay old town
that was a big part of it, yes.
That and Darcy lives there, of course.
and of course free butt is one of my specialities.
the other major reason being the fact that I live there..right? Right?
Oh yeah, the Pipettes, that's another reason.
I had a brief chat with Rose a little while ago in a pub in Kemp Town. She's nice!
There are plenty of equally good venues in Brighton (and a fair share of shit ones too, but anyway) and a corking music scene. The Pressure Point is just around the corner, and they put on much of the same kind of stuff as The Freebutt. And the Concorde is also pretty good- I saw 65daysofstatic there and it was great.
i know a few people who play Cable Club nights and it sounds like fun. The Freebutt is the only one i've been to, though.
whoa! Hang on there sonny Jim...The Pressure Point and Concorde ain't bad, but they are no Freebutt....Freebutt is the best venue in Brighton if you ask me.
but it might by psychosymatic
Oh god, I have the Avalanches in my head now...
wow, I'm a big draw eh?
Ever since I moved here 2 years ago, like, 2 DiSers have said they're moving here.
I put the iliketrains gig on there. It was a cool venue and really cheap - dont know why more people didnt use it!
There's no way this venue will close permanently. It should be back doing live music again by the start of next month.
Electralane and Jetplane Landing at the Freebutt.
Also, the vines, the strokes and the white stripes have played there.
with your thighs it's no surprise at all.
to Brighton last year cos I heard you lived there. I've spent the last year trying to find you - with very little success. I'm hoping this is the year that makes it all worthwhile.
hopefully it won't be a permanent thing. I Jay, who runs it, will get it sorted and get the licence back.
