just watched this for the second time and its every bit as good as the first. a truly remarkable film. thoughts?
you've made me want to watch it again now.
fuck all happens but it goes so quickly, their relationship is utterly absorbing and its beautifully shot, and the soundtrack by kevin shields is great.
the bit when Sometimes comes on, it fits so well.

but everybody I know who isn't either a broadsheet film critic or a DrownedinSounder says its terrible.
It probably isn't 'truly remarkable', just like Neighbours and Sufjan Stevens.
to say that sufjan is truly remarkable. damn sight more remarkable than oasis.
But Sufjan Stevens hasn't written Live Forever or Morning Glory, and until he does, Oasis are better than him.
sensitive subject with the sufjan.
Don't hit back lgordon!!! He's not worth it.
you fanny. I don't hate Sufjan Stevens, but he isn't as good as you lot seem to think.
I feel ashamed for replying to you.
which I would suppose would imply you hitting in the first place but I really didn't mean that.
I don't like sufjan stevens so don't dare fucking imply I do.
note the "*snigger*" implying I was being tongue in cheek before you make yourself look like a FUCKING WANKER?
double post to themselves.
Such a feeling.
just thought i'd give an extra little opinion there wrighty. It's really quite depressing i've got nothing better to do at 00:36 really.
who isn't a broadsheet film critic or a DrownedinSounder.
I have got the opposite impression. I think the broadsheets were a bit sniffy about it.
before wrightylew hijacked it with his constant spew of bullshit.
so in other words, you're saying:
'I'd prefer this thread to be full of comments saying how brilliant it is, rather than people who may disagree.'
bad bad vibes
but what sort of inane comment is
"I haven't seen it,but everybody I know who isn't either a broadsheet film critic or a DrownedinSounder says its terrible."
and then bringing sufjan and neighbours into it. its just twatish really.
he makes a point which has some worth.
wrightylew can be a cunt if he likes.
as you admit you haven't seen it. you're just recycling other people's opinions in an attempt to be contrary. why don't you try and make up your own mind on something instead of being a sheep?
its that good. i mean, its not terrible, but i dont adore it either. maybe its because i was ill when i watched it, but ive never felt the need to put the DVD on again. maybe someday.
and coming down with the measles i remember watching watership down and i've never really liked it since...
was a late night screening on a saturday night, and there was me and some guy down the front. i left feeling absolutely emotionally worn out.
amazing film, really is.
But it's beautifully shot, and it has Scarlett looking hot and Bill in good form so it stays watchable.
It's not great, but I'd watch it on TV.
but certainly not as good as some people says !
there's no plot and i think that's irredeemable
Its like DrownedinSounders use the fact people like certain styles of music to make them feel better about themselves. Telling yourself you're better than the other boys because you like cleverer music... Its hilarious.
Do you feel proud, grockle, because you like Lost In Translation, and rate Kano with 9/10? I hope you do, because I doubt any Oasis fans give a toss about you.
you, however, do not as you haven't even seen it.
I love you man...ha ha ha ha
I wish Oasis fans would toss over me, I really do...I heard you only get a certain amount of jizz in your lifetime, and the more they waste over me, the less they have to make 'orrid, dumbass kids with appalling taste in their own graven images.

a film doesn't need a plot to be good.
Characters and their evolution can be largely enough.
i basically disagree
I just found it incredibly forgettable. I actually forgot it while I was watching it, which was weird.
Clearly a lot of people enjoyed it but, save for Bill Murray's performance, I thought it had very little to recommend it and I was perplexed by the attention it got (especially when films in a similar style but, in my mind, far better (for example Wonderboys) were pretty much ignored.
Plus Scarlett Johannson's character really annoyed the hell out of me when she rang her mother to complain that she went to a monastry and "didn't feel anything". I just thought "get a grip, woman. Most of us have way bigger problems than that and don't feel the need to go whinging to our mother's about them"
I honestly felt she came across as appallingly loathsome, spoiled and self-centred.
but would it be worse if Sofia Coppola had tried to write a character that wasn't rich, self-centred and spoilt? wouldn't that have been really, really fake?
it's really beautifully made, everything about it.
It just captures something really special. I can't honestly think of a film I like more from the last few years.
i think it's shit, to be honest
great film and an awesome soundtrack.
Not to be snobby about it...or to deny anyone the right to 'just not like it', but its not the sort of film an Oasis loving dumbass who counts the killings in a film is going to dig.
