he proved himself, no more hargreaves boo boys!
he had one good game, he still isnt that great
He's a good strong defensive midfielder. All that talk of him being "versatile" and bunging him on in different positions was bollocks. Bringing him on a sub loads was unfair too. He's not the kind of player who's gonna make a game more exciting if you bring him on to hold the defence. And then if the team loses, it looks like his fault.
Time to dig Football Manager out, I think...
He was England's most consistent player throughout the tournament
Ha ha ha!!
im getting i love hargreaves tattooed.
so everyone would know my devotion.
i was going to get an england shirt with hargreaves on the back. i still might.
...admit that (primarily as a Carrick-loving Spurs supporter) I refused to give Hargreaves any credit and hated his name appearing on the team sheet, but his last two games, particularly on saturday, completely changed my view of him. If Man United are willing to pay £20m for Carrick, I'd love Jolly to somehow manage to convince Owen to leave Bayern for us. Unfortunately I think he's probably a little smarter than that!
rather than milan in the champions' legue.
England players can come out of this World Cup with their heads held high and Hargreaves is most definitely one of them (Crouch and Lennon being the other two). He was by far our most consistent player in the last 3 games and did something most of the others in white shirts failed to do - played for the good of the team rather than himself.
At the end of the day though, this was the most disappointing World Cup from an England team in my football-watcging lifetime, as at no point did we put in anything like a convincing performance, which is especially shocking when you consider the standard of the opposition such as Paraguay and Ecuador - both bottom half of the Championship sides AT BEST - and the cream of Gilingham, Wrexham and Falkirk aka Trinidad & Tobago.
Still, let's look on the bright side. At least that Swedish parasite has fucked off at long last.
I take your point about Joe Cole, and to a lesser extent Ashley Cole and Rio Ferdinand didn't disgrace themselves either, but when all's said and done they didn't rise beyond expectations, unlike the other 3.
Crouch did everything asked of him, particularly in the Portugal game, without little or no support.
He was also the only one of our so-called "strikers" to actually score a goal.
As for Robinson? You're joking, right? Apart from Saturday he was simply abysmal, and if it wasn't for the fact there was no serious competition in the Sky Television League he would not be England's number 1.
respect, it was more luck than judgment, particularly in the Gillingham - I mean Trinidad - and Ecuador games.
Robinson's problems maybe could be attributed to the lack of a settled back four in front of him - his worst moments came with Carragher at right back and Campbell on the pitch in place of Rio against Sweden - but by and large you got the impression the defence - particularly the two centre halves, had little confidence in his ability.
The main problem could be complacency though, because there really is no realistic challenger at this moment in time.
be explained by the fact that he's only a squad player at Bayern Munich while most of the other England players are first picks at their clubs, meaning they are worn out after a very long season?
Bit of devil's advocate there perhaps, he was good though, best English player on the pitch, hopefully everyone will get off his back now.
could be levelled at Joe Cole and Peter Crouch though, while Ashley Cole and Michael Owen have played more games for England this season than their clubs. And don't get me started on Rooney...if Martin O'Neill - reared on a diet of Clough and Taylor - had got the England job, as he should've done, then there would be no "lay off Rooney, he is your king" bullshit, just a whopping great fine and probably 6-9 months in exile.
i know it had no real impact on the result but the sending off was farcical and i do not blame Rooney in the slightest. and i don't care what bullshit the ref/FIFA come out with, he sent him off for the gentle caress of Ronaldo's shoulder, not the obviously accidental stamp.
godamn i wish we could take penalties. the tournament was there for the fucking taking, apart from Germany, no-one has played consistently good football and we had as much chance, that's what fucking hurts the most.
I'll google this one...
playing in Germany has given him a more professional outlook, as opposed to beinmg more concerned which 2bob girlband member they can cop off with next.
Lampard should be dropped, there's no room in the team for both Gerrard and Lampard in my opinion...
Lennon on the right, Cole on the left, Hargreaves and Gerrard in the centre
And yet 3 weeks ago I'm sure no one would have thought that.
complain if we signed any of em to be honest, but then we do have David Friio and Gary Holt so any improvement is welcome.
say a bad word about David Friio again!
many good ones if he found a new club tomorrow!
He was Megson's first signing so will forever be tainted in many a Forest fan's eyes.
I want a Frijj milkshake-
The man is a 100% legend!!!
Well for Argyle anyway, and to be fair we sold him at the right time...
just a shame we bought him at the wrong time!
but i think hargreaves was a regular, he just missed the start of the season with an injury.
