Whats the best roast and with what combinations of veg etc?
it's roast chicken with parsnips, roasted pumpking, roasted potatoes which must be parboiled beforehand... some sort of greenery depending on what is in season and beautiful red wine, onion and mushroom gravy.
BUT IT'S SUMMER - wrong... salad season now...
Beef, mashed potato, turnip, cauliflower, carrots, cabbage, yorkshire pud, gravy.
simple and effective. yes.
Asparagus-roast (roasted in duck fat and rosemary) and boiled potatoes, carrots, runner beans, baby sweetcorn
add that to my list.
crispy roast potatoes, or mashed, parsnips, carrots, yorkshire pudding, gravy. but yeah it's not as nice in the summer.
they are replaced by bbq's inn the summer so who cares? really?
sounds luvverly, Rose. When will you invite us all round eh? :oP
of which you are all welcome to help me devour - there is SOOOOOOO much food to get through.
I do love having big Sunday Roast sessions - I find it cathartic making them in winter and inviting lots of people around to have lots of red wine, get cosy and chew the phat...
Any time, people, anytime...
next time im in London, it will be a sunday. and you will cook me a roast.
I need a decent roast :oD
hate 'sunday roasts', really really hate them. What a cunt a meal
you can't be fucking serious - calling Sunday Roasts a 'cunt meal'..? Fantastic... that's a newbie... I might borrow that.
Isn't it the most perfect meal evah? Each to their own, I spose
yep, i stick to my decision
we all really wanna know...
about sweet potato, i love that stuff and its very good for you.
never tried it?
ever in my whole 20 years. Have I missed out on sampling a culinary sensation?
is it delectable to my pallette (can I spell, think, or even speak today?)
I'm doing a roast today.
That's what ma mere usually cooks up - although roasties as opposed to mash
instead of a roast.
We hadit outside with italian bread and salads. Better than a roast anyday.
had a massive plate of
and it was amazing....my mum makes the best sunday roasts..apart from the ones my nan used to make
"they should be called pigs in blankets or something" :)
opportunity missed, and i am never usually one to let a laugh get away!!!
much tenderer and tastier than chicken or turkey, better flavour than beef or lamb [though both of those will do nicely]. and pork's just disappointing.
with slightly spicy, peppery, marmitey gravy [a nice bit of cayenne pepper is just the ticket]. the roast potatoes must be golden and airy and fluffy and crisp to perfection. vegetables: bothered. i guess carrots are always good. broccoli or peas = tolerable. most green things sadden me though.
They are the most playful of the vegetables.
things with leaves that upset me.
eating leaves is one of the most unpleasant culinary experiences i can think of. not quite as unsavoury as mayonnaise, but few things are.
It's nearly ready...
Carrots & rosemary
Mash with mustard & parmesan
Corn fed chicken roasted with whole garlic cloves
slaving over a hot oven?
