"They're going home, they're going home, they're going.....ENGLAND'S GOING HOME!!!"
In other news - 'MON THE PORT!
not only did they qualify for the tournament, but they made the last 8. You have nothing to say.
Scotland got some silverware this year (albeit a crappy inter-tournament thing with Japan, but that's not the point).
You'll get over it in time.
must seem a long time ago eh?
Just a little though...
Not because England lost per se, but because we won't have the constant droning on from BBC News/media/press in general about how England will "bring football home". No more hysteria = me happy.
My location in Aberdeen is for Uni purposes only.
You all know England didn't deserve to win.
Isn't it nice to get a post from someone NOT in England?
And I'm a perfectly pleasant person, thanks. :-)
Answer - neither team did. It was decided on penalties. Can't ask for fairer than that.
I think it's the way you seem to be enjoying other people's misfortune that makes you appear unpleasant.
It would probably be worse for a lot of people if england won the world cup. But whatever, its just a game.
It's just no more "this'll be our year" crap. From the start, it was clear it wasn't going to be England's year. They underperformed consistently (including today). They have no-one to blame other than themselves.
You can go on about Scotland being crap at football, but I remind you to turn on BBC2 right now and just remind me of the nationality of the 19 year old playing...
lack of faith.
That's ALL they had, ferchrissakes.
Blame Sven, blame the players, blame their commitment - but you simply CAN'T blame the passion of the English supporters!!
the ones playing the fucking game.
Try being clearer next time, "idiot".
you always go on about how the media are hyping England up so much, but have you actually read any newspapers or listened to the coverage? Most people have been seriously critical of the tactics and the performances.
I thought England were no worse than Portugal today anyhow.
I'm sure you're a nice person but all the anti-England stuff is getting a bit boring.
Especially in the media, which WAS still going on prior to today's game.
But still....IT'S JUST A GAME. Something MANY of you seem to forget. You all have lives existing outside of the World Cup. Would your lives have been enhanced if England had won? Answer - NO.
Sorry if it seemed unpleasant/inconsiderate, but to be fair, my initial post wasn't malicious in content. If you really didn't like it, don't reply to it.
You were doing ok until you trotted out the line 'It's just a game'. You might have well said 'Does my bum look big in this?'
I'm sure you did this to get the abuse, as you must have known it was coming
where in the world do you hail from?
this is probably the least funny post you could ever make.
when he was interviewed the other day?
he was completely misquoted. He just said he wasn't bothered either way, which is fair enough, isn't it? His mind would have been on Wimbledon
He originally said that he wanted "anyone but England" to win.
He now retracted it, due to pressure from English fans.
if its the media pissing you off, why are you trying to rub the fans noses in it?
Having spent the last few years living in scotland, the scots attitude towards the english team in this world cup means i could never support them again, plenty of people were really fucking nasty.
i don't mean you were being nasty waterwings btw.
generalisation there, no? I'm a Scot, and I'm gutted as fuck that you've been put out.
Mind you, I live in England, the atmosphere's always better when you do well so I have an ulterior motive.
If you want to resort to slaggings, breadfan = bedpan.
Now FUCK OFF.
i got all sorts of abuse for celebrating the opening goal, apparently i should fucking grow up because trinidad are rubbish, should fuck off back home etc. my mates just thought it was really funny but it really fucked me off, a bit of friendly banter i can deal with but it seemed really spiteful.
I'd had no trouble for being english before then, though i suppose football does bring out the numpty in everyone! i retract what i say, since at least you're being nice!
thats quite an annoying picture actully
he's talking about..
imagine the decades of smugness if England got through. They're still going on about the match 40 years ago as if it was still relevant.
hardly any english fans go on about 1966, only the TV and tabloids mention it. Its annoying for me to hear about it, it was 18 years before i was born ferchrissakes!
the thought that there now won't be decades of smugness doesn't really make up for us being out of the World Cup.
living in scotland, this is the attitude of most scottish people, i would go as far as saying most scottish would actually prefer to see england get beat more than they want to see their own team win
if they put as much energy into supporting the Scottish team rather than hating the English, they might actually spur their team onto qualifying. There doesn't seem to be nearly as much resentment towards the Scottish by the English fans in my opnion. Sounds like petty jelousy.
take football out of the equation and theres hardly a problem, everyone's dead friendly.
