Lots of swearing in the tunnel caught by the BBC microphones, bodes well
God save the F*kin QWEEEEEEEEn
it was funny! i'm excited about this game yay
this is dull
it's as exciting as it sounds
I decided to miss it, now
Terrible, England are heading out if they don't improve. Don't worry though, I'm sure Sven will send them out with fire in their bellies for the second half.....
I can't think of a single player who has honestly stood out. Joe Cole maybe. There's nothing worrying about Equador, but we've done nothing to particularly trouble them.
Needed to vent fury to more than me mum.
it's true though, thats what i've done. Dear oh dear....
commentator bloke goes "give the formation time"
time to do what??!?!
or a new manager.....can you really see McClaren doing much different?
cringing around Eriksson, showing him his notepad, obviously hoping for a gold star
I think McLaren just tells him what's happening because he can't see from the dugout
haha, BBC team really taking the piss out of Sven, brilliant
Rooney crosses in, and there is no one there.
again and again and again.
then again you'd think he'd have a look and see if there was anyone there before he kicked the fucking ball
"They're going home. They're going home. THEY'RE GOING. England's going home".
What a great free kick.
If England go through, they will be fucking lucky.
I remember when he used to be good.
all he does is shoot and miss, and waste posession
Didn't enjoy that match one bit.
Gerrard as shit as well today.
SO mediocre. The first half in particular was absolutely dire. Glad we're through but we'll have to step it up a good few levels to give Holland or Portugal a game of it.
Could have easily won it 2-0 if they had performed anywhere near as good as they can.
So. Agonising penalty shoot-out against Holland, anyone?
Lampard and Gerrard were both pretty poor by their standards, need at least one of them on form for the next game if England are going to progress
Thing is, there isn't really anyone else you can play. I mean, Jenas?! Haha yeah....why is he there and Defoe at home?!
but Gerrard looked pretty tired today. Lennon should have come on much earlier. Carrick played well, kept possession
Looked ok, not really threatened, system worked.
a billion times better than ecuador.
England are getting better each match...
i thought so too... but we won so what does it matter
kept the ball, passed and moved creating some good chances. The problem was at times we played with 6 in midfield with Rooney dropping back that no one was able to get on any through balls or hold up the ball.
I think Downing should play wide left with Joe Cole through the middle instead of Lampard who just isn't playing well at all.
Well happier than I was in the 55th minute.
-4-5-1 was pretty effective and shows a degree of tactical versatility
-Carrick & Hargreaves were excellent. As was Lennon, who I would love to see get a half later on in the tournament.
-Rooney lasted 90 minutes and seemed to get better which obviously bodes well for holland/portugal.
-Aside from some unforgivable mistakes in the first half the defence got much better as the game progressed.
-We peaked during the middle of the second half, the first time I remember this happening since Eriksson took over.
-We seemed to deal with the heat well.
That's all I can think of at the moment. But yeah, it was the most encouraging performance so far.
by the performances of Rooney and Carrick but was hoping for something a little more convincing really, didn't really create that much
yet again covered up a crap performance with a set piece....now that the minnows who are ecuador are out of the way (and i thought they were awful today)....lets ee how england do against the big boys. i am not anti england but it really bores me to watch them
and silentcommand...who is it that you actually support...its got to be chelsea, man utd or everton as you have a real downer on liverpool. gerrard did more running today than the rest of the team put together...the reason you think he is shit is because englad have a shit manager who does not know how to use him....put benitez in charge of englad and you would win the world cup....but that wont happen so make do with mclaren
the opposition is ecuador, trinidad and paraguay....not really that great are they??
that IS Beckham's game his long passing/crossing and set pieces are exactly why he's in the team.
cant head, cant tackle, cant defend, no pace....when the opposition gets stiffer, this will be found out.
I can pick holes as much as I like right?
a go at beckhams career..when he was in his prime at man utd he was a very good player....these days he only has one touch of the ball before getting rid of it. he cant run at all...he just takes free kicks...all of which were very poor, except the one that went in...which was very good. but when england play the bigger teams they are going to need a right midfielder who can do a bit more....and he cant
that he has consistentky been great all season at R. Madrid though...
Beckham still has it...
Beckham plays better opposition than that every week for his club.
with an amazing ability to distribute the ball and supply ammunition for the strikers. I think this just about merits his place in the team ahead of any other contenders we have right now.
in this tournament, 4 have come from Beckham or contrubutions made my beckham.
can be applied to England goals generally for the past 9 years.
one free kick scored, one cross and the own goal
his set pieces could be even more crucial, it might be only realistic chance we get with the complete lack of forward line.
4-6-0 has ever reached the quarter finals before...
Did Dugarry/Guivarc'h really count as strikers? That would have been 4-5-0, even more impressive
England 'performance' today made me think France isn't playing that bad...
two good games in a row.
He was great at the last World Cup before he got injured. He's barely played a full game for England before this one. Also, he was played out of position for most of the game today. i'm not surprised at all.
only women seem to think of stuff like this when they watch football?
boom mics placed around the pitch to pick up the sound of the ball being kicked
serruptitiously makes the noise whilst Motson witters.
