is this because Ireland aren't in it this year? is it? IS IT?
that is not the reason why.
BEST JOKE EVER.
that would be saying "England are a dead cert to win", no?
"i hate football" way, i mean looking at it in an objective way.
the spirit of the World Cup!
a sort 'We, the undersigned, vehemently disagree with the rampant bullshit of the original post'
But we also love and adore sarkyfox, despite her many faults.
that way it would probably make a win more likely.
don't you feel foolish now!
I thought that whilst writing it.
Oh well, that bald bloke who was a striker anyway.
HOW QUICKLY WE FORGET.
no more talk of the 66 team.
They're all cunts anyway.
it sucks. SUCKS.
I have no team to support, it's so fucking shit. i am really annoyed actually. DAMNIT.
and what faults bamos? i am perfect. mostly.
you don't just get in the world cup by shouting hard enough!
It takes guile and cunning in the qualifying stages, something Roy Keane obviously doesn't have ;-D
Being Irish, I'm disappointed too.
even the USA are in it and they don't even call football by the right name!!!!
arrrrrrrgh grrrrrrrrrr arrrrrrrrrrrgh
was invented by the people who invented football, ie us, as a shortened form of 'Association' Football, in the same way public school boys called rugby rugger.
So technically there is nothing 'wrong' with the word soccer.
the american sport football though
(It's and English word, by the way)
I'm Danish and though I've been here years, a lot of my family are still in Denmark. I don't mind England other than the sometimes blind optimism their football fans show, and I may well even cheer them on at points. If they come up against Denmark though, there is no question which side of the fence I am on.
Though I have bansihed all thoughts of the last World Cup from my memory...
making it look even more irrelevant. Dammit.
Anyway, I do feal for Sarkyfox.
Remember 1994? That was so awful, I couldn't bear to watch a single match. I was so bitter.
Yeah, t'was a football365 reference. If you substitute 'and' for 'an'.
...without it cisse wouldn't have broken his leg again.
...and without that i wouldn't have just seen a graphic freeze-frame close-up picture of the break
who live in England don't suppor them at all, even if they're half English. I got a Welsh mate who's half Enlgish, was born here and lived her for HALF HIS LIFE but when England played Portugal he claimed he was "neutral see!"
This made me angry beyond belief.
when irish/scots/welsh who live in england mostly refuse to support england.
maybe this is because of the history between these countries? why should we clap and cheer for another countries team, especially one which fucked over most of our own countries in the past?
would YOU support germany if you lived there? probably not.
i know it should be all 'let bygones be bygones' but... it really doesn't happen like that.
Yeah, even of you live somewhere that isn't where you were born it is kind of difficult to get excited about what is happening with them, I find. I guess it would be easier to do if it wasn't for the whole media circus that surrounds the England team, but that is more the fact that the media can kill my interest in anything with over-the-top coverage. I can't honestly say that as Denmark aren't in it that I want England to win, but that is because I've also got close ties to Sweden.
I do want Crouch and Bridge to have good / brilliant World Cups though, cos they are ex-Saints players that I don't mind...
and I have to here this anti English stuff all the time. They went into a frenzy when Braveheart came out. Ahame they forget he raped and killed thousands and it was 1000 years ago.
I do understand the history, and I wasn't so much talking about you Sarkyfox, but the whole massive English-connection/relation people who styill point blank refuse to side more with us than say Argentina.
In fact, the best thing about beating Argentina in 2002 was of the Scots who bought Argie shirts wearing them in the pub when we lost. lol x 1m.
i would never call myself english, ever.
i grew up in ireland, and am irish - but have english family.
also, from a young age we are taught about the shit that happened to ireland and our 'english oppressors' although obviously not as nationalistic as that.
but, it stays with people and i think that even at a subconscious level it would feel like treachery to support england in any way.
i mean, english people seem to equate playing germany with winning a world war so... it was nearly the same when Northern Ireland beat england at football. i supported them and was unbelievably happy.
