That ad is cool. And Lonnie Donnegan isn't as irritating as I thought he was!
though it is the wrong side of what is commonly termed as the 'rue morgue' of the music period between rock and roll and the beatles (Nik Cohn, 1969)
to be fair I can't see a skiffle reviva though this is a Leadbelly song
My dad's mate used to drive Donegan's UK car when he was living in america. As a thankyou he played at the school where my dad works at their concert! He's such an important figure, but never gets the credit he deserves.
Or as i liked to call it, 'Up The Bracket'.
that was piffle
than the one about his old man being a dustman, you know...
i *heart* Lonnie. My favourite song is 'Frankie & Johnny'.
Don't like the advert though. Doesn't work i don't think.
not a bad yank accent for a man from Glasgow
the new Roddy Woomble.
and my music lecturer at university dida 2 hour lecture on the importance of skiffle which was slightly more exciting than the two hour one he did one he did on Ken Colyer's jazz ensemble.I like him til said Joe Meek was a 'musical lightweight'- fucking failed musician professional scouser
aaaaanyway back to skiffle
Mine's mentioned above.
One of my favourites too.
probably the Grand Coolie Dam though its more a new negro spiritual
We should head over to drownedinovaltine.com
I think it's amazing!
WAS the period 1959 to 1962 correctly termed the 'rue morgue' by Nik Cohn? Taking us up to the news its At The Drive-In
the visuals go with the song...
i'm anal like that.
Here's Judie Tzuke to take us up to the news.
