  • i like wrapping up

    mmmmm clothes.

    thommo @jasminepearson | 5 Jun '06, 04:08 | X
  • i thought we'd agreed

on more positive threads thommo! so lets make this an 'i love hot weather' thread

    sharp_yet_blunt | 5 Jun '06, 00:53 | X
    • exactly

and it means you can eat ice cream or other hot weather-only food such as ice lollies

      sharp_yet_blunt @wishpig | 5 Jun '06, 00:57 | X
      • because it's illegal to eat ice-cream in winter

        ...

        thommo @sharp_yet_blunt | 5 Jun '06, 04:07 | X
    • I like it...

...when it's warm at night and you can just sit outside the pub or in the garden in a t-shirt. Ahhh.

Buses and Tubes are horrible though.

Today I saw two girls in bikini tops. Madness. I dont really get where they got the idea they were on, or even near, a beach. Lewisham high street is possibly the furthest from a beach you can get...

      Jesus_Quintana @wishpig | 5 Jun '06, 00:59 | X
      • are you complaining?

surely girls in bikini tops is a good thing?

but yes warm summer nights are the best part of summer

        sharp_yet_blunt @Jesus_Quintana | 5 Jun '06, 01:01 | X
        • In principle I'm not complaining

but bikini top + flab = not good

          Jesus_Quintana @sharp_yet_blunt | 5 Jun '06, 01:04 | X
          • yeah us fatties should boil to death for fear of offending people with our, gasp, FLAB

whereas guys with massive fucking beer bellies are free to walk around topless, while i sweat in trousers and {if i'm feeling particularly daring} a vest top rather than a tshirt, because of people like you, who make me ashamed to let anyone see my body.

            • haha

i could get myself a feeder. awesome.

              ailsa @jasminepearson | 5 Jun '06, 01:18 | X
            • wait

You don't look fat at all.

The two people I saw were really quite fat, and unneccesarily wearing bikinis in 20 degree heat in a high street and then on a bus. Topless guys are worse. Especcially at gigs. I'm allowed to be offended by both. Christ.

              Jesus_Quintana @jasminepearson | 5 Jun '06, 01:18 | X
              • yeah sorry it turned into a bit of a rant.

it wasn't aimed at you really. it's just really annoying that i'm embarrassed to wear a shortish skirt or whatever in the summer for fear of people laughing/making comments, because trust me, it happens!

and i'm not REALLY fat, like obese or anything, i'm like a size 14. but anyway that's not the point.

i rant too much anyway, sorry!

                ailsa @Jesus_Quintana | 5 Jun '06, 01:24 | X
                • Isn't 14 like the national average?

You crazeh. Wear short skirts! If anyone makes a comment, slap em in the face then kick them in the balls.

                  Jesus_Quintana @ailsa | 5 Jun '06, 01:27 | X
                  • yeah but that includes old grannies and stuff

14 is like, a bit fat basically.

and it's not hot enough for short skirts anyway, haha.

                    ailsa @Jesus_Quintana | 5 Jun '06, 01:29 | X
                    • although not everyone who is a size 14 is fat. actually.

it depends on the individual shape etc.

ANYWAY i am rambling, i need beer.

                      ailsa @ailsa | 5 Jun '06, 01:30 | X
            • but then I'd be topless

and where would my dignity have gone?

                            thommo @jp100 | 5 Jun '06, 02:59 | X
                            • you *actually* don't see the problem with negativity?

you didn't upset me, and i was joking about trying cosmic ordering, hence mentioning noel edmonds. I don't think being happy all the time is a good idea either, because it probably means you're ignoring problems and lying to yourself. it's just concentrating on things you don't like does seem it a bit stupid, doesn't it just depress you? i try to acknowledge it and move on. unless thinking about what you hate helps you to try and improve things, but that's not really the case when you're moaning about the weather. i don't really understand that point of view really.

                              • Uhm, no.

If i'm not happy with something i don't see the point of pretending i'm fine with it, even something as banal as the weather, especially as it is with an audience who probably, in the nicest possible way, couldn't give a fuck e.g. a public internet forum.

                                thommo @jp100 | 5 Jun '06, 03:27 | X
                                • fair enough

and hot weather is quite annoying sometimes. but there are positives, girls are more attractive, the sky looks nicer, drinks are more refreshing, etc. negativity probably gets more of a response on places like this, so for that reason i can see your motivation for posting and it's nice when people agree with you. i was just hoping your negativity was more tongue-in-cheek.

                                  jp100 @thommo | 5 Jun '06, 03:34 | X
                                  • uhm

                                    "girls are more attractive"
how? Because they're wearing less clothes? Because their tans aren't out of bottles? i think our idea of "attractiveness" differs somewhat.

                                    "the sky looks nicer"
Wow. Blue all day. Woop-de-doo. i like clouds (see gen's post).

                                    "drinks are more refreshing"
uhm, people get thirsty in winter too.

"it's nice when people agree with you"
if my inention was to get people agreing with me i would have started a "i hate james blunt" thread or something. A lot of people seem to enjoy the hot weather and i'm not trying to deny them that, i have just felt sick and dizzy and like utter shi all day and the heat has been a large part of that. And i don't know if you noticed but it's nearly 3am and there's no-one in my house willing to talk with me about it so i thought i'd use this internet forum. This is a social board after all.

"i was hoping your negativity was more tonge-in-cheek"
yeah i forgot this was a novelty account. i'll remember to think twice next time i want to post something sincere.

                                    • sorry

those were the three things that first came to mind. i like clouds more in summer, when they're whiter and set against blue sky. if you can't think of anything good about hot weather then fair enough and if i felt like you have then i'd probably be complaining about it as well.

                                      jp100 @thommo | 5 Jun '06, 03:59 | X

i'd use the phrase 'let's agree to disagree' but i hate it, grrr. actually, i'm starting to enjoy this negativity.

is depressing. really oppressive. i couldn't bear to live anywhere where there wasn't any variety. i like not knowing what the sky will look like from day to day, or what the weather will do. i love clouds [when you can actually see their shapes, rather than just an expanse of white]. blank blue skies day after day are just bland and numbing.

Wear skimpy clothes when it isnt even hot, it isn't even technically summer yet. Congregate in stupid places; the steps in the middle of Lancaster University, go to a park you twonks, I hope everyone one of those people get piles. Especially as it's a campus university people actually go there from town which is 3 miles away to sit on steps. My friend told me I looked suunburnt. I don't need that. I prefer winter clothes you can build outfits, I don't want to wear just a t shirt or shirt. argh!
