'what sort of music are you into?', what do you say?
I don't respond. It's clear whether someone will understand. If not I give a non-commital type answer, guitar music or a bit of everything. It is a problem. But just a small one, considering.
a social board or a music board thread?
music is music related...but talking is a main part of being sociable.
or say Belgian psy-techno.
i say "indie"
that's what i'd say as well.
i looked shifty and said "oh lots of stuff" - LAME
we need to establish a proper answer. although to be fair, "what music are you into?" can probably only be answered concisely by a dolt.
Its impossible to answer without sounding like a tit. Usually becuase, a)the person asking usually has no idea that music exists outside the top 40 and looks bewildered when you start reeling off names of bands you're into, they were just making conversation b) You really like the person asking and want to discover that you've met someone who shares your passion, then find out they're an Abba fan c) trying to categorise the stiff you love just belittles it!
despite freshness issues
on Wednesday, I was speaking to the girl behind the bar and she asked me what they were like.
I told her they were a bit like Pulp. Then I giggled and ran away. I think this is the only acceptable course of action.
"good music" which ends up with people talking to me about jazz or funk they love and me going "whaa?" and looking a bit stupid.
If I feel like being a twat (which is most of the time) then I say something like "doomy post-rock, pop-punk, that kinda thing" and then they just walk off. Sometimes.
Otherwise it's the standard "indie rock" reply all the way.
ctrl+f search for 'real music, y'know, guitars and that'
the blandest answer possible
then, when I startde getting more specific, they just looked bewildered.
'Ilike male and female duets, like bearsuit' = stunned face
'I like quirky, fun pop music, like talking heads' = stunned face
"Anything that's good."
usually shuts them up.
