and George Bush as Bush, not George?
is it iraq specific to refer to people by their first name?
sorry there isnt a punchline. there looks like there should be.
maybe? or the fact that someone needs to be blamed for every fuck up so it doesnt matter who they use.
'Because Osama Bin Laden commands respect!'
That was meant to be a punchline, but doesn't look like one.
Galloway commanded Respect?
Sad I remember, I know.
The conclusion was that lots of people are called Hussein, but not many are called Saddam, thus it makes it more obvious who the press are refering to or some nonsense.
Now that's over...
Let's talk about myspace instead.
i missed a thread
im not being sarcastic
im actually shocked that there has been a thread that's relevant to my studies that i havent noticed.
sounds fair, i guess.
could be some confusion there I guess
of goldi looking chain.
THAT RHYMES !!!
is actually in the Muslim form or something which means 'Saddam' is his last name.
When my dad converted to Islam he became: Hassan Peter and is called 'Hassan' by the Malaysians he lives with.
Osama bin Laden is (I think) in an Arabic form and so 'bin Laden' is the 'last' name? Oh well, I think that's where it comes from.
that sounds entirely likely. thought it was a little racist to assume that all the "little brown people" would do it the same.
id so, Thanks! that feels speshal
Nah, actually I asked him the same question about 5 years ago.
I cant believe that all of you get on with your dad's.
i know quite a few muslims and that's never been mentioned,... their last name was hussain and they were all known by their first names... it's not the same as the chinese.
or something very similar to that anyway...
but i thought saddam *was* his first name, which the media use - not his last name
may have a negative impact on any 'normal' families with the same name, i mean - i bet arabic/muslim/etc families in the west think twice now before calling their kids 'saddam' so...
According to my dad, they don't have first names and surnames there in the same way they do in the west. So it doesn't make any difference what name you use.
