do you ever listen to mp3s on your computer?
is the cd being made from mp3s or other sound files that you already have, or are you trying to make a compilation from other cds?
i'll just assume that you cant, and, as, in the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king, i will advise you to use Windows Explorer (ie, looking through folders and files on your computer)to find the files you want, right click them and select something along the lines of "add to playlist" or "add to now playing" or something
into your disc drive and there should be a box with options that comes up. Click on 'copy album to computer' and rename the songs. it should go straight to your music area, and then rename the album. Simple as. godddddd.
so you'll also need to rip your cds then, i assume. when you install itunes, put your albums in, right-click all the tracks and choose 'convert to whatever'.
pour it over your computer and yourself
get a hammer.
hit your computer on the screen while lighting matches, shouting "BURN! BURN! BURN!"
and make sure you video it for youtube.
What sort of computer? A laptop or a big hulking desktop?
How many optical (i.e. CD) drives on it?
That sort of thing.
Actually if you put a blank CD in the drive before opening Windows Media Player, see what options it gives you for working with that drive - the little window will pop up. Check what software it's suggesting you use...
Does anyone know?
Am i only imagining that this is how people make them?
Come on there's people i know that don't like cassettes and everything.
oh kayyy
do you use "windows media player"?
When?
Uhm...i think so.
So yes.
answers like that are the reason i didnt
reply to this at first.

other CDs but
i can turn them into files.
Hang on...
They're Winamp i'm afraid.
"They're are Winamp"?
the music files are "Winamp"?
you listen on Winamp?
i think tyou can burn cds using winamp, but im not sure.
anyway

i'm never going to
achieve anything am i.
Uhm...i'll try that. Thank you.
yeah
yeah i do.
Sorry...
I use
a programme called Nero. It's very simple to use. Maybe you can download it? I too am technically inept so can't help you further than that.
Nero is the baby
thommo, where did you get your computer from? The chances are you will have Nero or a similar piece of software.
You put it
into your disc drive and there should be a box with options that comes up. Click on 'copy album to computer' and rename the songs. it should go straight to your music area, and then rename the album. Simple as. godddddd.
onto your computer or onto disc?
did i read that wrong?
considering that that isnt waht "Burn"ing is
*duh*
My head is still full of fairies and witches. I'm functioning properly today
I'n NOT functioning
i told you...
you need
a cd drive which is capable of burning. then you use a program like nero to make a list of tracks and click 'burn'.
you can also do it from most audio programs like wmp (ugh) or itunes, which i sometimes use - just make a playlist and then choose burn.
yo.
You don't need nero
Just Media player innit?
But WMP is shit for this
seriously it usually burns at the maximum rate and an audio CD burned at 40x is prone to sounding like a pile of arse. :-(
itunes makes it easy
just create a playlist, put a cdr in the drive and click the big burn disc button.
okay so
how do i get this "iTunes"?
are you kidding?
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
no
i really am this thick.
sorry
wasn't trying to be rude, just wasn't sure if you were taking the piss or not.
download itunes
add your mp3s to the itunes library
rip any cds with tracks you want to burn as well
create a playlist
burn the cd
apple.com
so you'll also need to rip your cds then, i assume. when you install itunes, put your albums in, right-click all the tracks and choose 'convert to whatever'.
hahahahahahahahaha
cheers thommo
^^
same with mediaplayer
Get some lighter fluid
pour it over your computer and yourself
get a hammer.
hit your computer on the screen while lighting matches, shouting "BURN! BURN! BURN!"
and make sure you video it for youtube.
that's how i heard it's done, anyway.
You don't like cassettes then?
OKAY
i am in Windows media player but it is saying there is no device or disc in the drive. THERE IS I JUST PUT ONE IN THERE. Argh.
Maybe you don't have your internal CD drive set as the default CD burning device.
So do you
know how i do that?
Okay
maybe not.
i hate being stupid.
i vote
getting someone else to do it for you :)
I'm a mac person. soz. I'd guess it's in your system preferences.
Anyway, Theo has arrived. So all will soon be well.
To be honest
Thommo sounds like he SHOULD be a Mac person. Windows hasn't ever been kind to the technically inept!
erm
What sort of computer? A laptop or a big hulking desktop?
How many optical (i.e. CD) drives on it?
That sort of thing.

A laptop
one CD drive at the moment, the internal.
A case of Everybody Else Is Doing It So Why Can't I?
i put it in
it whirrs a bit
nothing happens
sory of my life etc.
*story
i can't even make a slightly risque gag, bloody fat fingers.
was that intentional?
wut?
uhm....wut?
fat fingers
or for most of us just the one finger. Sick bastard!
(too tenuous?)
uhm, yes...
although i suppose they're small and stubby rather than fat. My fingerS.
Okay then.
*thinks...
it is still possible you have said software on there.
First, you say WMP didn't recognise the CD, which is odd.
Can you open my computer and make sure the CD drive is there?
Yeah,
but it calls itself a DVD drive.
is no one else getting the joke?
uh...
no...?
Right, so
close down windows media player and everything.
Make sure you're plugged into the wall and then reinsert the blank CDR.
After a few seconds it should whirr to life and then give you the options of what to burn to it with.
Laptops generally come with software pre-installed. My Sony Vaio certainly did.
see below.
Oh well.
thanks for your help but it seems helpless.
Sorry kids, C90s for Christmas again.
