I'll be honest, I'm dead against it.
...a mis-guided gimmick, hopefully.
ahhh, I needed to say that.
sums the irish tosser up entirely. I believe in his values and beliefs. BUT. I dislike the way he puts them across. he's like paul mccartney, INCREDIBLY self righteous.
the independent has gone from being my favourite paper to one of my least favourites.
probably still buy it though.
Same with Geldof. Essentially good men, but they have a sort of 'second coming' aura, which makes you want to kick them.
Par for the course for the Independent.
Do they actually want to keep being a proper newspaper, or have the editors thrown in the towel in favour of becoming just an instrument of West London Prius drivers?
i remember reading that it was gonna happen but not when
not buy it tomorrow in celebration of his involvement.
in there tomorrow?
Obviously not, but that's what Boner should do, rather than talk shit about shit. The shit for brains shitbag.
If youre rich enough, or big and famous enough, some people will let you 'play' with any toys you want to, I wonder how they/he justifies this, other than him being famous, I wonder if he would ever read comments like this and respond to them (he would have to get past our normal declarations of hatred to try to understand why we hate him)
Does this 'playing at being editor' strike anyone as similar to Marie Antoinette playing at being a shepardess?
Was there any reason given for wqhy they would let him do this?
he is only 'guest-editing'. which means he'll probably bum his favourite soft-rock bands in the music section then piss off.
and "it's for a good cause" and all that.
Beginning of the end for The Independent: maybe.
It's called the 'Red Issue', which I don't get at all. Communism is it, fine.
maybe. Although that would be a bit rich given the amount of shit The Independent has given them the past few weeks
Having said that, that's complete bollocks about the beginning of the end, people love Bono, that is the sad reality.
Absolute power corrupts absolutely...they were probably alright before they got all big.
they are kind of helpful if you want to get big things done. people who achieve great things are quite often pricks. e.g. churchill. more examples are needed but the point stands.
...and stuff gets done.
what a coup that would be!
but yes. seriously. he achieved a lot. history has judged much of what he achieved to be abhorrent. but he definitely got shit done. why? because he thought he was 100% right.
but he thinks that decisiveness is a desirable quality in a PM and so he should make definite decisions.
he is correct.
because of this:
Its new tabloid format has seen it become, for all intents and purposes, a socio-liberal tabloid. Rubbish journalism + reactionary responses to every government action + Bono doing an issue = very bad indeed.
But has Bono's major potential asset (he's catholic and famous) in this cause being harnessed/utilised
i.e. his papal pals, are the vatican 'onside'? if not, has he shamed the pope yet, told him he is behind and has to 'get with it' 'not allow dogma to interfere with saving lives?'
I imagine that the catholic faith workers in africa could do some of the most effective work in re-education, simply by reversing their previous advice.
sounds like paypal....
