Well, I moved back to Norway rather, now that uni is (finally) over. Go me!
best come back.
look forward to many days of not being able to buy booze, heroin addiction and lots of square shaped people!
I'm posh enough to be able to buy Norwegian booze. You are, however, very right about the heroin addiction. It's a real bitch.
do they sell cold beers in your state-run alcohol monopoly shops?
not cold. But imported. If you want cold beers (say, from a bottle or in a can), you can go to your local supermarket. Anything stronger will have to be from the state-run Winemonopoly (clever name, no?)
well now it's hot over here the question occurs once again as to why Systembolaget have a policy against fridges and the selling of cold ones
Norway and Sweden? as regards to alcohol. you have really confused me.
it sounds like a good idea.
In Norway you can buy beer and alcopops in supermarkets, but anything stronger (wine, spirits etc) are doled out by state-run speciality shops.
are people suddenly going to go mad if they see a bottle of red on a shops shelf?
of both purchases and income i guess?
monopolies also on drugs/pharmaceuticals
also, the Swedish State Run alcohol monopoly - Systembolaget - has its managing director chosen by parliament
It's current managing director is the wife of the current Prime Minister
you can get your tobacco fix from your corner shop. good old snus.
jobs for the boys eh, or rather the pm's wife.
it's a bit fucked up - Sweden is practically a one-party state
it's really 1984 up here
in conclusion; Norway > Sweden. Despite the fact that your music scene is better (although you did produce Backyard Babies.)
That is odd indeed. Luckily, if you get some ice, cold water and salt and mix it all up, you can cool a beer down to a nice chilled state within minutes.
It's true. They did it on Mythbusters.
going home to get some ice from the freezer - no stores sell bags of ice cubes
but it's stupid that you can buy fags anyway.
if the Systembolaget was open from say 2pm until 11pm but it's open from 10am - 6pm monday to friday, 10am-3pm Saturday and closed all day sunday
you want to have a proper drink and work for a living then?
and come back with bottles of drink to your place of work, and look like an alky.
it seems to be mainly european places other than UK that consider beer as not a proper drink. people here seem to. rightly so, to be honest.
it must be annoying as hell though.
and I lived in Paris before moving here so I'd grown accustomed to a completely different way of life with regards having a drink
for anything other than Folköl - which is beer of maximum 3.5%
to be able to get a bottle of wine from the corner shop would be heaven but you can't
and for most of the day the Systembolaget is where you find all the alcoholics hanging out
that be liking lemonade then? the aforementioned beer?
the Systembolaget sounds like the job centre in town. surrounded by unemployed alcoholics, who dont actually realise that if they go in, they can get a job and not live on the street.
