inclusion in the england squd deserves its own thread.
why oh why oh why oh why.....
he'll bring nothing to the team apart from added shitness ;)
rubbish hair though.
shit in every position?
he could have selected Phil Neville
says! but who actually watches the bundesliga? EXCACLTY! its all lies, he just had a pushy dad when he was a kid i.e no real talent jjust lots of application.
eg. gary/phil neville
loser with shit hair
that clears it up.
he hasn't done anything wrong but then he hasn't done anything exciting
it's probably because he's the only player in the squad that speaks German
Sven obviously speaks German too
this is the Hargreaves thread
defoe is shit. darren bent is better.
I still have no idea what his actual position is. I know Bayern have played him at left-back, and in midfield, and even up front recently.
He seems to just be average everywhere, rather than good anywhere.
perhaps he's a fourth choice keeper as well?
best ever comment
Hargreaves is a backup to the fucking backup.
If he had picked Kieran Richardson instead, he could have covered exactly the same positions (expect stronger on left than right) and a better player - he could have left out the dodgy Wayne Bridge and the unconvincing Stewart Downing and picked two extra players - a striker who isnt injured, crap or a baby and another centre back.
without owen and rooney all we have is an unplayed teenager and a lanky streak of piss. why is bent not in the squad???
I'd rather he played Defoe than Bent.
why there are so many midfielders in the squad? The England defence and midfield is very versatile with a number of players able to play in more than one position.
My changes would be Phil Neville in for Hargreaves, Bent in for Jenas. That would improve the squad A LOT i reckon
But isn't it great that everyone thinks they can pick the squad better than Eriksson?
Neville as he has had a good season in the Premiership, basically a better, more experienced version of Hargreaves. And Bent as he has had a great season, scored 20 goals in a 4-5-1 system for an average team. Squads are always overloaded with midfielders, I always think five strikers should be taken especially with the ability of much of the England defence to play in midfield and vice versa
Our main chance of scoring goals is hinging on the fact that (at the very least) Owen is fit, and hopefully Rooney too. What happens if neither of them are (Worst case scenario).
Who are we supposed to put up front, Walcott and Crouch?!
I presume that Sven is planning on playing 4-5-1 in this situation, with Crouch playing up front on his own and Gerrard and Lampard in midfield with Carrick playing holding midfield. If this is the case why not pick Darren Bent, someone who has played lone striker this season with Charlton and has scored a good few goals? He's certainly a better bet that Crouch.
And it really is a mystery to me why Walcott has been picked ahead of both Bent AND Defoe. I might be able to understand if both Owen and Rooney were fully fit, but they're not. Sven should really be trying to prepare for a situation without Rooney and Owen, not throwing completely untested youngsters into the mix.
will be better in the 4-5-1 system in terms of the England team, he just edges out Bent in terms of link up play and an 'out' ball. Bent has scored more goals but has been the main man for Charlton all season, whereas Crouch is competing with others. Joe Cole, Lampard and Gerrard have over 50 goals between them this season and I would hope Sven would be looking at them (and Beckham) to be bombing on from midfield, feeding off Crouch.
I could see Bent being well looked after by a half decent international defence, whereas Crouch can unsettle most defences with his height alone, that is not to suggest simply punting long balls up to him
His game is mostly about playing off the target man a la Teddy - his season improved greatly when Benitez realised and started playing two up. I reckon Crouch and Walcott would actually be quite a good front two if they click, small and quick with tall but nimble. I can't see why, even with his new found capacity for surprise today, Sven would change the formation at this late stage.
Still can't quite shake the feeling that Bent and Johnson are merely good club men hitting prolonged periods of form (see also Kevin Phillips, James Beattie, Darius Vassell to an extent)
