cosmo-teen as the fifth horseman of the apocalypse?
there will come a time when everyone has been anyway.
How does he advertise it?
you just turn up at a pub with MES in and buy him a pint.
and having the british (not to mention world) media focusing on the current AND the future england manager sitting on the bench at the world cup is not going to help much is it...
WHY couldn't they have given it to Hiddink, fools!
It was going to happen, I hope the Daily Mail are happy.
Now lets compare his management record to Sven's...
wants to go, he's fed up of the media and there's a job at Real Madrid just waiting for him.
A change will be a positive think I think.
the last manager we got to inject some 'English passion' into the team was Keegen and he didn't do a great job.
flappy jowels than that pustule-nosed wazzock.
look at his work with man.utd, and boro
plus he's already in the england camp so he should(hopefully) know whats needed to give those spoilt millionaires the kick up the arse they need to start winning something
He knows he's fooled them (the FA)
-Continuity, he knows and has worked with the players for some time and knows English football
-Dull, he won't attract much media attention (the affair is already out)
-English, apparently being English automatically means you are passionate
-Balls, he seems to have slightly more than Sven
-Lack of experience, has not been in sole charge at a high level
-Dull, not much of a personality, can he really give the teamtalks that change games?
-Tactically, havent seen much evidence of his tactial ability/range, other than throwing on four strikers when needing four goals in 45mins
I'm sure he'll get England into the next Euros/World Cup, but past the quarter finals? Not so sure
..i think most managers would find it difficult to get england apst the quarter finals in a world cup.
They're just one of quite a big group of nations who are good enough to get to that stage. I'm fairly sure Spain, Portugal, Sweden and quite a few others continually expect to do better than they do as well.
with the current group of players, i think England should expect to get to at least the last four in a major competition; the best defence and midfield in the world I would say (lots of options and strength in depth for once), and if Rooney and Owen were fit a potent strike force
i think Terry, Lampard, Rooney and probably Gerrard as well, if on-form, are a really strong backbone to a side. But I'm not at all convinced that england have one of the best four sides in the world.
I think most major nations have a few really good world class players (like the above), and some more really good internationals. It's more just a matter of form during the tournament and luck.
Don't get me wrong, i think you're right, a good manager for england could get them into the semi-finals. But I think there's lots of other countries that are equally deserving.
pre-tournament circumstances are always a big factor
Like Germany in 2002, not fancied at all, no pressure, made the final.
All the media pressure in England always seems to bugger everything up, never helped by our best players playing more games than any other country during the season. England will probably win something with a substandard team in 15-20 years
it doesn't matter who you appoint. standard of the players is what matters.
look at Greece
I'd love for him to be a success but I can't see it happening. The FA are a joke.
what happened to Martin O'Neill?! he apparently had an interview that went well
I would've liked him
But I would have liked him too. I can't believe we didn't get Hiddink.
does this mean we'll get downing on the left wing in future?
probably going to get his chance eventually anyway. atleast he is left footed.
was this an impression of martin jol?
For a while back there, that Scolari talk got me excited. But nay, it was ALWAYS going to be Shitty Steve McLaren
Still, I'd choose him over Curbishley and Big Sam 'please, please give me the England job' Allardyce
O'Neill would have taken the job, but he fucked up the interview apparently
it would be Mark E Smith.
The England qualifying group for Euro 2008 is so easy that even Wrightylew could do the manager's job. Hopefully England will then go on and win that tournament. But if not, Shiny Steve will be turfed out in favour of someone else.
That's why Scolari, Hiddink & Wenger said no then?
