Is due in five minutes time
Life or death?
He got life
for lying to the FBI
could have been worse
he'll be locked in a cell in solitary confinement for 23 of 24 hours a day for the rest of his days with no opportunity of parole
the other hour of 'recreation' means solitary confinement in a yard for an hour a day
what a bizarre case, it seemed from what the clerk of the court read out that the general attitude of the jury was that this guy was a severely traumatised child who developed into a very minor al-qaeda figure
*cough* Pinochet *cough*
It was almost a blog there for a while
I'm not quite sure exactly what he did that carries a maximum security life sentence - I am quite sure he is mentally unfit for trial and should be in a psychiatric ward not in a prison
I was just thinking of Eddie Izzard:
We get scared about those Islamic jihads. I think we do assume that everyone who is into the Islamic religion is having a jihad every other bloody day. There's a lot of very relaxed Islamic people, and we got to understand - remember, this is very important - and we do assume that jihads are just like, you know, everyday three jihads are issued by every individual. It just seems they're everywhere . "The fruit shop shortchanged me! A fucking jihad on them!" Bump into someone, say,
"Hey! A fucking jihad on you!"
"How many jihads have you got going now, Dad?"
"Well, 24. God, it's difficult to keep up with them!"
It was a Virginia court too, wasn't it? I would have assumed they'd be quick to give out a death sentence in such a case so I was pleasantly surprised.
Until I found out about the solitary confinement. Jesus...
I presume he's not allowed, books, TV or radio or anything? I would hope he would be allowed such things but I'd guess not...
that's strictly limited 'special religious and educational programs', whatever that means
He could go around being one of those pro-lifers who murders doctors.
*manic Bill Hicks laugh*
had one visitor this year and in protest haven't shaved for four days.
but on the news today they kept mentioning that he kept saying in court that "I wish it could be September the 11th every day" - and since then I've had the Roy Wood and Wizzard 1974 Number 1 festive single on my brain.
between that and It's Raining Men
that is truly horrendous but we are talking gallows humour here and not 'taking away the freedom of the american citizen'
I hate the way people always say it was 'the day the world changed forever' - as far as I can see the world changes for good everyday anyway - that's the essence of time, stooopid.
Roll on 2008
what an apalling thing to say
