What're you going to buy first fellow students?
I'm planning never to earn above the threshold. If my ambition to be a failed novelist is realised I should be okay.
I haven't paid back anything yet.
they'll see us and start asking for the money back!
on CD's & DVD's. I'm going for drinks with my friend tonight, my treat. And I've booked an appointment for my 1st proper haircut in 7 years.
I'll probably waste some of it as well
don't ruin it!
I've been eating peanut butter for protein.
It was this big <------------------->*
*not actual size
oh sorry I thought it was 1995 again. Carrty on.......
I haven't paid back a single penny of mine and I earn way over the threshold - just act like England Owes You a Living
a month. Enough to near bankrupt me, I tells ya.
I used to love Loan day. A journey to 24-hour Tesco's at midnight (we lived in a simpler time) then a trip to HMV and Sonic Sounds for CDs and a week in pub beer gardens. Ah, those days.
and there were either parsimonious Yorkshiremen or poshos who cynically saved them up for 'travelling' - these are the people you wish to see on kidnap videos in the middle east but sadly now own Merril Lynch or something.
Also a good friend of mine's sister spent hers on a breast reduction and then made it onto the telly because of it. Much as I love my friend his sister is a stupid bitch
government lends you money at interest that = inflation, you take it and save it for whatever you want, what's the problem?
that 'poshos' comment was quite traynoresque.
but I used to get annoyed that I had to take part time jobs in and out of term to get through university and try and 'keep up' with the lifestyle and some people were boorishly flippant - I think my comment was slightly justified through experience, and not the norm - fair play to anyone who can afford to do that - if they're cunts then its another matter. Without sounding like scum-dun-good am glad I made it without my parents help!
And as I siad I spent my loan like any frivilous child would have done - and then refused to pay it back like a real rebel
just my parents help me through university and I appreciate this and know I'm lucky... and I'm not a cunt.
not you particularly, just a general vibe... similar conversations have been had on here several times.
if there parents put them through - i hope I have the chance to do that when i have kids - I was speaking about disagreeable people I've met who would make Kofi Annan turn into a Wedding Present lyric at the drop of a hat. Most of my friends got put through like that - I just wanted to go and did what I could without thinking 'its not for t'likes of me' - and anyway its not for everyone anyway, rich or poor, so don't worry about me getting on a soapbox - don't worry I'm not going soft on opinion though!
what a prole
v kind of them. they saved up for my education, so the money was there for that purpose. so i have no loan. i do get short of money [currently dodging calls from my bank manager, great fun], but the tuition fees get paid and i'm not about to get kicked out of house and home, so i generally don't regard it as a disaster. could have gotten a loan i guess, but i don't like borrowing money where i can avoid it, and i neither see myself spending my life on the dole nor raking in an annual six figure sum, so i didn't really wanna be faced with the obligation of paying it back.
i sort of wish i got to join in the fun of loan day though. sigh.
or less, all I know is when I get the statements I have barely dented the interest so how they expect to get their money back I just don't know.
my bank gave me two credit cards in the third year when I was 2K overdrawn and my loans were spent on my 3 term's rent - now what did they think I was going to pay them back with? Of course I was silly-daft reckless - I bought my first bass guitar and an effrcts pedal - thank you mastercard
whooo i like today so much!!
iv only bought two cd's today though as i need to make this last because june is going to be a busy month.
and i arrange an overdraft too. but i got underworld - beaucoup fish, and elf power - creatures. FUN FUN FUN.
May I recommend Promenade (again) by the Divine Comedy
(insert smiley whatevers)
the proud owner of:
cult of luna - somewhere along the highway
and bill hicks - flying saucer tour
I did that a lot - usually superflous garbage, natch
New jeans for the dove!
And The Organ album too, which sounds alright on first listen
And Family Guy series 4 on DVD
And I'll probably get drunk tonight
Oh yes, today is a good day
how do you not pay? Don't they take it out of your paycheck like tax and NI?
and if its an arts degree youre doing the chances of you earning the required amount will take you time - from my experience anyway as I wasn't that bothered about a 'career' when I left - but i'm a bad example as I defaulted after 4 years and now have bad credit - I'd say be a writer and not pay it back until the first royalty cheque!
people with loads of money, mine is still a week away. Well I hope it is, I don't check my account now as it scares me.
