Whatcha all think, then?
I actually preferred Rose as Cassandra. That probably makes me a wrong person...
girls with a bit of posh.
I thought it pwned. the writing was just as good as the last series. the right mix of intrigue and scary and humour. what is the secret the face of boe will impart? omg!
plus david tennant > christopher eccleston
He's much more 'doctor' like, though I did miss Ecclestone's slightly jarring style at times.
Tennant is certainly able to pull the humour off and it wasn't quite so dodgy in this episode either.
Also, I thought the cat makeup was AWESOME!
was kind of crap. when he was angry he just looked like someone's dad getting cross at a barbecue and the 'zany' humour seemed a little forced. he was best at the quiet solemn bits.
the scripts carried it though. now i think they've got an actor worthy of them.
I like Tennant!
I need more.
hope we see that vengeful cat nun again.
yeh, that cat make-up was good!
Tennant was good, but he does seem to come from the 'frown and shout when there's an intense moment' school of acting. Which reminded me a bit of Sylvester McCoy.
Werewolves next. CGI-alicious.
in preferring eccleston? tennant certainly looks the part but is far far too shouty. I'm sure he'll settle down though.
billie piper however is proving herself to be an absolute revelation as an actress. her zoe wanamaker impression is very entertaining.
i also think that russell t is overrated as a writer: ideas yes, execution and dialogue cheesy as HELL.
and I've already made my feelings re. Piper very clear.
Dialogue is fairly cringeworthy at times.
I assumed it was..
I'm surprised to say I liked Eccleston better. I thought he brought a whole new dimension (In Space) to the character. Tennant seems to have taken it back a step. He's no Pat Troughton as far as the humour's concerned and some of the shouty bits seemed rather forced. I think the way Ecclestone handled it was unlike any of his predecessors, but Tennant is clearly trying to bring back "the old magic" or something. He's enjoying it too much! Also, I'm suspicious of him because he is Scottish and has affected an English accent for no apparent reason.. All the previous actors used their own "voice" and I liked that as they all had distinctive tones. What's wrong with a Scottish Doctor, anyway? Sylvester McCoy was Scottish! Piper was excellent as always!
in that I couldn't automatically tell he was putting it on.
I have to stop posting on this thread, I'm making myself look like quite a fanatic.
But I like the idea of the actors being "THE DOCTOR" in real life! The others all are to a certain extent...
his penis is bigger on the inside.
sweeping statement. I quite like the new Doctor Who! David Tennant seems more suited to the role than Chris Ecclestone was.
Oh you put "seems" so I'll let you off.
Thank you! In a few weeks I might be wanting Ecclestone back...We'll see
but the Johnathon Creek bloke would be TERRIBLE!!
was a possible candidate to fill Ecclestone's shoes, wasn't he?! Mmm so glad they didn't go for him!
what are you, gay?
He is. Or at least, "bi-curious"
if not the best.
can you even remember the story in between your swooning over Tennant?
there was very little story in this episode, which is why it was just 'good' in my books. so there.
omg. he was on 'ready steady cook'. tennant + food?!?!! that would've been more like porn if i didn't have to throw stuff at my monitor every time 'ainslie' is on screen.
that's cos i downloaded it. *blushing emoticon*
I need to see that - he is so fit!I <3 him!
due to lack of hard disk space. but if you've got a uknova.com account, it's on there! (greatest website in the world)
but the in-programme music at the start seemed to feel like it would be more at home in 'casanova'.
Theo, it definitely wasn't Zoe Wannamaker dubbed onto Billie. Billie is just pretty ace. It was totally great, especially the cat make-up. And although I disagreed with Adie before, I have ot admit that I was wrong, and that David Tennant is HOTT. Why doesn't he have his own accent though?
It deffo should be Scottish. Oh well...
I wasn't sure about the voice. It sounded really good but I wasn't sure about how they did it.
Like I say, I much preferred her as 'Cassandra'. I'm sure that makes me a bad person...
he should be using his own accent. it's hott. really don't know why he has to put on the english one. i mean, sylvester mccoy got away with it...
one of my friends recently got a radio controlled K9. we're going to set him to battle with out daleks soon. omg.
how old am i again? never mind.
david tenant is superb. the entire cassandra plot was unnecessary, and the ending makes no sense. but yay anyway. next weeks looks superb.
to see face of bo. he has a secret for a "traveller without a home"
rose gets possessed by cassandra
cat nuns have a secret
its lots of ill people being experimented on
cassandrose lets them loose. they be zombies o' death
they cause havoc.
doc saves day by spraying them with four chemicals.
he is happy.
face of bo fucks off, keeping his secret.
big face in a tank.
All i remember was rose getting locked in a room and being about to be killed.
bo didn't do much. and only appeared briefly this time to hint at a mystery to come.
bets its that the master's about...
I'd like it if Tennant kept his Scottish accent, as it's lovely. Also, the lighting's still rubbish and the music still isn't right.
