to calm down. I'm on a hell of a high right now. I can't possibly sleep.
I'm sure you've seen todays UEFA cup result?
forgot you are a boro fan. Well done!
Possibly the best game I have ever seen from a Boro team. We needed 4 goals in 70 minutes... UNBELIEVABLE.
We have Steuau in the Semi's, i'm rather confident...
"It was a monumental display to come through this," said Middlesbrough manager Steve McClaren. "I've got a happy dressing room and deservedly so."
performance, well done boro!!
*attempts to reclaim some glory for our result in Turin*
24,000 and something thats a fucking disgrace. Sunderland would have had the SOL full. Fucking dickbags dont deserve to be anywhere near where you are. I bet you all fucking love Steve McClaren now after wanting his blood about 2 months ago. Spineless cunts with short memories go get your gas masks out the cupboards
thats fucking awful, well done boro. good win. two english team with two chances of european glory. awesome!!
that not all of the boro fans wanted McClaren out. the vast majority of the fans appreciate what he has done for the club, carling cup, qualification for europe and so on. theres no need to get upset because your team is a bag of wank.
So you're point is kinda redundant. Brilliant, you get more people at games than Boro do. And what? I agree that it's a shame they can't fill their stadium, but to care enough about it (jealousy?) to spit bile like that is actually quite embarrassing
Have fun against Southend United next season
First of all Sunderland will never be in the position of being in a Uefa cup Quarter Final, so i guess fuck you.
Secondly where have the 10k fans gone since the time you were doing well in the Premeirship? yeah thought so, sat at home on their fat mackem arses.
If it were you, I'd be happy.
At the end of the day I would like McClaren to get the England job at the end of the season.
24,000 is disappointing, but, believe it or not, people in Teesside have jobs and not much confidence in our time. Not enough confidence to believe we could win this game anyway. People always pick up on our attendance...
What about Fulham? or Wigan?? Why always us?
and now it looks like it can really happen ... boro can (and should) win this tournament!
all power to them, i hope they do it !
if any north east side was going to do it (apart from us of course) i'm glad its boro, not those dirty makems ;-)
after a game like that. incredible.
Fucking mackem DICKS you put across all thats bad about Sunderland, how many goals have your strikeforce scored this season?, how many points have you got? How many quarter finals have we been to this season? £ i hear you ay, never.
what are the odds?
May be worth a bet, a large bet
3 favourites on SkyBet.
3 quarter finals obviously
Boro should have it won.
17 Middlesbrough (14) 16 452715 31908 28295 35049 80.7%
THats 80% of our capacity filled.
19 Sunderland (20) 16 531919 39707 33245 48300 68.8%
Thats 68.8% for you.
Don't bring it up anymore.
and how is newcastle's home support ?
2 Newcastle United (12) 16 831726 52327 51983 52218 99.5%
There you go.
You've always got a huge crowd. :)
i bet we could build a bigger stadium, continue winning *nothing, ever* and still fill it :D
You're all mugs!
but we need something to be proud of and if it happens to be "incredible support of distinctly average team" then so be it :D
we'll buy literally anything black'n'white or with the club logo on it too.. i can't think of a another city so dominated by a football club
The percentage of capacity filled means fuck all because our stadium is about 16,000 seats bigger than yours but you dont even fill a small ground like the Riverside.
I cant even believe u used those figures as an argument-if Sunderland played in a ground which held 100,000 and got 60,000 every week, we wouldnt be filling the ground but have the biggest attendances (almost) in the league.
Also, i never said SAFC have been awesome this season all i said was 24,000 is a disgrace and if we were in that position we could fill the ground easily and a moreover.
As for Newcastle fans, well its a myth that they would fill St.James if they were a first division club because if they were a yo-yo teams like ourselves and the fans hated the board so much their attendances would soon drop considerably.
Come on Steaua!
men are turned into stupid twats when football is the topic.
does the riverside really hold 39,000?
is the official capacity
your average attendance is only 5,000 bigger though.
we are a heap of shite, and the worst football team i have ever seen yet produce 30,000+ every week, all season
Blah blah blah, we have more fans so were better, you deserve fuck all because of your geographical loaction which means that our catchment area is relatively small, this is proven by the fact that 80% of Boro season ticket holders live in the Middlesbrough area.
PS: say hello yo our fellow Yorkshire men in Leeds next saeson, thanks.
Sunderland is a much bigger area than Middlesbrough, you also have most of Durham.
Yet you can only fill 60% of your stadium...
football fans will be similar i bet. I dont know what the population of Middlesbrough is but you have surrounding areas in the same way Newcastle and Sunderland do
Theres Stockton and Guisborough, some of Darlington and then nothing.
Hartlepool are either 'Pool or Sunderland.
Sunderland is 50,000 larger than Boro so its hardly a massive gulf
i don't even understand what you're arguing about, but sunderland are going down and middlesborough won tonight.
does james win?
will anything be resolved here?
who cares, i'm off to bed. NIGHT.
the comparison should be, hypothetically, if sunderland were Middlesbrough tonight, how many people would have been there? similarly if Middlesbrough were playing Fulham on Saturday and were in the same situation as us what would it be then?
well, does it really matter? james went to see them, as you probably do every couple of weeks.
so, you're doing all you can for your respective teams.
so i don't think this conversation is really going to come to any kind of conclusion.
do you have a sunderland shirt?
sunderland are fucking shit and getting relegated whereas boro are in a position to win a major european trophy.
should just get over it.
that boro have got as far as they have with a smaller fanbase.
and if we got as far Boro have and a Chelsea fan was to turn round and say, 'yeah but we have more people through the gates each week than you' I would smile, then laugh and then go down the pub a celebrate.
Its do with how well Boro have done (and they have) and how poorly they are supported. Which boils the piss of fans of teams who get big gates and are just a heap of shit. Where as they know fine well if that was there team then they would have filled the ground twice over. Im aware football isnt decided on which fans deserve it but we once got 35,000 for a fucking reserve match
well done Boro. Go celebrate James.
for a reserve match. That is irrelevant though surely?
At the end of the day I'm a Boro fan, I love my club, and if I could go to every game I goddamn would, I'm sure there are many others in the same boat. But I genuinely do think that we're not in a big enough area to attract thousands. I do envy Newcastle and to some extent Sunderland, but I am unbelievably proud of my team. And on that note, I think the 'argument' should end.
im just a highly charged frustrated mackem. I guess theres a few more thousand out there. Well i look forward to the Boro-Steua thread. Well done and enjoy your moment, who am i supporting on Sunday James?
Boro all the way. Everyone in the NE hates the Skunks.
is it at Boro? and is it on Sky?
I don't think it's on Sky though.
Wonder what the attendance will be. :\
I'm going for 32,000
a ticket in the Boro end for free. I got a free one for the Arsenal-Boro cup semi a few years back and that was tough for me. I dunno how i would take it
ground is fucking impossible to get to
Park in the centre and walk it. Follow the crowd. Easy peasy.
from sunderland you have to go down exactly two roads to get there...
from what i can remember i had to walk fucking miles as you couldnt park anyhwere near. Its easy to get to middlesbrough you just head for the big grey cloud
theres loads of places to park though. and 5mins from the town centre aint exactly miles.
from what i remember
not exactly royal palace worthy is it?
But i'm not jealous of you, I just envy the amount of fans you have...
why woud I laugh? Because I know it's a lame thing to state, that's why.
why is it even better that boro have a small fanbase yet did well?
what I sorta meant is that the smaller team has done better.
right i'm off to bed.
the less people who enjoy the same things you do, the more cool it is.
for a europeam game for middlesborough's attendance not to be full is a shame but its not that big a deal, i was cheering on middlesborough all the way tonight, i want all english teman to do well in europe
it would be fantastic to see arsenal and boro win their respective competitions this year
its why i like Coldplay
your from morpeth ?! why are you a makem ?
It would be good to have a Arsenal - Boro supercup, I was surprised by the attendance but I'm sure it will be full next time after tonight! Mclaren best not get England job though it should be Allardyce he is a good manager and it would make Bolton go shit which is good.
O'Neill for England manager or Sunderland manager alternatively. Then he doesnt get Newcastle job. Then Allardyce doesnt settle for the hassle of Newcastle. Finish runners up in Euro 2008 and win world cup 2010.
That would screw them nearly as much as Souness, and I want an Englishman who will shout at the players at half time to manage England Allardyce or Pearce, I know he is inexperienced and probably not that good but at least he would care.
if they appointed some random foreigner. Like when Tottenham appointed Christian Gross or Porstmouth appointed that french bloke last season.
sorry i was told that really winds up peple from Middlesborough
I'm from Stockton, it only annoys me whenreferring to the football team.
middlesbrough should be spelt middlesborough though
But when the name of the town was declared, it was spelled wrong, or something stupid like that. So we're stuck without an 'O'.
Don't ask me what Edinburgh's excuse is though.
Are bad spellers?
we are damn fine spellers, we spell evertthing correcctlyie
(that wasn't being sarcy, honest)
dont get smart just because your team won tonight
