Isle of Man have their own Commonwealth Team
How pointless is that? They've got a population of about 73 people, most of whom are married to their cousins.
did you know that it is still (or was until last few years) illegal to be gay there?
Stupid Island.
if u move there
u wil easily get in the commonwealth games.
yeah my dad
was born in malaysia, and so has a dual passport. technically i qualify to play footy for them then. i've always wondered what the standard is and whether i'd get in or not?
guernsey
also have a team.
i was quite shocked at this.
Actually that's true
Move to Isle of Man, get to be an athlete.
You'll also have to live in a backwards society, but it's a small price!
Sure the
Commonwealth games is a load of pointless rubbish anyway.
If only
there was pasty making in the Commonwealth games.
or
an interbreeding comp
hahaha
what about, interbreeding pasty making.
ahaaaaaaaa.
Technically the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands are not part of the UK, so they have their own commonwealth teams.
Their players play for England in football.
indont get it
....... .....
why
have they all got a "le" before their surname?
le tissier
le saux
le bergerac
???
because
they are closer to france arent they?
yes
the channel islands are the remnants of the duchy of normandy (whose royal line, in 1066, became King of England with some guy called William). Eventually, in a succession of wars, the rest of Normandy was conquored by the French except the Channel Islands. They remained mostly French (culturally) until the 18th century when they became Anglicised, although a lot of street names and surnames are still French.
Most weirdly, parts of the islands still actually have people who speak the Norman dialect of French.
oh yeah
and the queen is still informally known as the duke of normandy in the channel islands.
fucking
le weirdos
Because they have french/norman ancestry
i was kinda
joking
Didn't they get a gold in the cycling the other day?
