whats the best apart from dis obviously. nme annoys me.
probably Mojo, but they're all U2 arselicking wankfests. Q especially.
of real cutting new music in mojo.my dad likes mojo cos its got stuff from the 70's and 60's in it.
atrocious. did you see the top 10 of 2005 in it, terrible.
and Comes with a smile RIP
I hate the wire so much.
they fell off about 5 years ago.
the wire actually but some of it is a bit too obscure. good mag tho.
They seem to confuse obscure or underground with music that nobody else cares about. Their coverage of electronic music is absolutely terrible now, which is a shame considering it's history.
And they sometimes come off as completely ignorant in their reviews, last time I bought it they namechecked "lay savvy fav" in an article. seriously.
the reviews aren't always brilliant but it's a nice read, and their interviews are good. plus I really like the design.
Vice is pretty good.
but, the internet > real magazines.
is nicely written, despite being dad.
Mojo's a nice balance of the past with the thoughtful future. (Not that it's poifect, though)
8 times a year. And they let FHM takeover their music channel. It's fucking so, so terrible.
though it gets a bit pretentious from time to time.
Q is okay but seems to be going the way of NME. Word is good if you don't mind that it's obviously pitched at £50 man.
I don't read many to be honest. Most of my musical input comes from DiS dese days.
its better than NME and all that bollocks...and theres a cd with the odd gem of a track on it from time to time
and it takes a while to read which is nice in this world which seems obsessed with getting new knowledge NOW!
I don't mind the Wire as well but I don't buy it much, again I mainly use the internet now.
The writing is so disgustingly over the top it makes Pitchfork look refreshingly down to earth. I hate it. I actually hate all the writers so much. So much.
And yet I still buy it cos it looks pretty.
of plan b once where every review was overwhelmingly complimentary. not one word of criticism in any of them. odd. but yes, it is very pretty and it has a good selection of bands.
other magazines i would rate for their music coverage and design are stool pigeon, amelia's magazine, flux, lowdown, and vice, (although i'll never quite get over the fact they gave the drones album 9.5).
adbusters isn't a music magazine but it is brilliant!!
as well but i do tend to use the net more these days.
its all about Terrorizer. For all your proper metal needs.
