of going to a club or having a party.
however, it is Ireland Vs England in the rugby the next day so......
as thats my birthday weekend!
i'm older than you (in a way?)
you be on 16th?
i dont wanna talk about it
We share the same birthday, That is all.
are going on a 3 day bender. Wish me luck!
he'll be there.
Last St. Paddy Day I saw Trail of Dead in The Electic Ballroom. That ruled.
go to boogaloo!
It's the best pub evah. Even the Royal George in Charing Cross Road (so good) is not as good.
that's amazing. i'm jealous.
Pete Doherty was in the Boogaloo siging. SO there's the ONE AND ONLY reason to avoid it.
its full of chiefs
Shane is in New Yoik on St Pats. He's let me down. Again.
Party in Prague!
at the Trail of Dead gig last year but didn't think much of it.
My friends band were playing in the Dublin Castle so I flew up there after the TOD gig and had a great night.
This year I'll be in Newcastle and I think I'm heading out with a few people from work.
Amazingly when I'm at home back in Belfast I never go out on St Patrick's night just because of the amount of total wankers that are out. It's good to be able to go out and enjoy myself without an alarming number of drunk spides / chavs going mental.
'spides' - i always forget that word exists. it cracks me up.
where in belfast?
st pat's day I got wankered at uni, jumped on a train to London, saw Arcade Fire at ULU which I barely remember and woke up on a stranger's sofa. live the lfe, eh?
I can think of loads better ones.
Like: I'm bored.
Or: a gig.
as my flatmate knows the singer... and I was really really impressed... bought their single and everything...
They are on at Barfly eh? Cool - will deffo go...
Date of gig?
for some reason...
Anyway, I'm going to be British this year - so there.
i'm not sure why it's the 17th march to be honest.
st patrick is the patron saint of ireland, like george(?) is of england - he 'banished the snakes from ireland' ie paganism, and he was the one that used a shamrock to explain the holy trinity to the poor pagans, and hence it is one of our national symbols...
it's celebrated so much mainly because of america i think - all the irish that are there attempting to remember and celebrate the fact that they're 'irish', and the massive celebrations caught on everywhere else by other irish around the place suffering from the effects of 'heimat' (or whatever)...
just an excuse for people to vomit on dame street during the day.
the americans like it because most can't accept that they're just American, they're all I'm of German/Irish/Polish. You're NOT
we all do celebrate it, so roughly 4 million 'real' irish people.
the rest are wannabes.
i was there once, and we "grooved" to such traditional irish sounds as the Stone Roses and BRMC.
and the irish on the walls there is grammatically incorrect.
go to 'real' irish pubs!
i can't wait to pretend to be irish for a night and get really drunk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
um. i don't know. if decent bands are playing, i may go and see them.
"Where in Belfast?"
Carryduff, just about 6 miles south of the City, although I live and work in Newcastle Upon Tyne now.
Less than 3 weeks to go folks. I think I'm gonna try and stay sober until then.
not believe I'm from Carryduff?
Or not believe I'm going to stay sober until then?
and i don't believe you'll stay sober beyond about 7pm this evening ;P
not that i'm trying to insinuate that you're some type of alcoholic...
but, come on!
Somehow I don't think I'll succeed though.
Whoops there. A new person moved into my house this evening and we thought it would be a good idea to go for some beers.
You know me too well Daniel!
and wear a special Guiness hat.
FACT OF THE DAY: St Patrick was Welsh. He was kidnapped by pirates or something.
I'm not Irish.
So i don't care...
My cousin is from N. Ireland. Would he celebrate it?
and we all know st.patrick was welsh! he was kidnapped by irish pirates and made into a slave. he escaped, got into religion and came back to save the pagans.
well, all the irish ones should know anyway.
cos that's where i am supposed to be going...
and it's a decent place which serves loads of different beers/stouts/etc. so... and they'll blatantly have a good session on!
Thanks for your pub list we had a wicked time!
going to Bosh at the Barfly and then get amazingly wankered as it's my 21st birthday the next day. Hurrah.
Oh and my friend from Dublin is flying over for it too so will make it extra ace.
