program. I'm off to watch it now.
It's usually the only channel I can rely on for quality programming.
Stuff like that is making me lose faith in it.
not really interesting then...
in an office.
WAS THE BEST BIT.
you can tell it's written well but i don't think the 'live audience' atmosphere suits it at all.
plus, of the three main actors, the black guy is the only decent one.
chris morris = nice 'tache
its got a similar feel to black books.
Not a classic, but very watchable.
although most comedies take a while to get going, im sure IT will get better
I enjoyed it. I found it fairly witty in places, and I chuckled often.
The adverts make it look less funnier than a table.
It'll be easier to judge after 3 or 4 episodes.
I thought it was decent, I could tell it was written by the Father Ted guy throughout!
I also think the woman in it is great looking. Am I alone?
spot the Boards of Canada poster at the back?
i enjoy all the in-jokes and Jen is my old it manager other than the fact that my boss was a bloke. The two techy characters are overblown it's like the marketing department have taken a chainsaw to reasonable parodies of geeks and left us with rubbish.
it has potential but i doubt channel 4 will let go another series without a revamp.
shite, but still watched both episodes and complained how crap it was. I didnt mind it.
i thought this was absolutely ace. firstly it wasn't canned laughter, you could buy tickets to see this being filmed ages ago. secondly, this is the first sitcom in ages which made me consistently laugh out loud - a rarity lately.
peep show was great but.. was it really astounding great? this was impressive and i think it's gonna improve over time.
odd seeing morris in a sitcom, though.
it was full of predictable safe jokes, kinda like friends, but not as funny, im sure it will improve though.
and yes peep show was great and far funnier, i'd regularly laugh out loud during it, where as i didnt laugh out loud once during this.
also: your face is terribly contrived.
and like wrighty said a lot better than the adverts made it seem. But comparing it to peep show is absolutely MAD.
THEY'LL RAPE THE FRIP OUT OF ME!
Get out of the lift
Get out of the lift
Get out of the lift
Help me. Exclamation mark.
So no-one saw the BoC poster?
are the first episodes still up anywhere? i cannae find them. is that a good thing?
It made me laugh a lot, ummmm, can't think of another comment...
was the only thing that made it watchable, his bits were so far ahead of the rest of the show that it makes me think he got to write his own lines and scenes.
That Irish guy was probably the worst comedy actor I've ever seen
the bit were he was shouting the same thing over and over in the woman's face was the only bit that made me laugh.
graham linehan obviously wasn't the stronger writing force of father ted, as shown when arthur matthews (is that his name) left big train, the second series wasn't as good.
richard ayoade is excellent. I could laugh for hours at that guy. His chracter is a lot like his character from Darkplace though.
Darkplace was excellent.
The phrase I still use from darkplace is "I'm one of very few people who've written more books than they've read"
best boast evar
in the IT crowd sounded like he was trying to do an impression of the guy from Peep Show, which wound me up a bit.
I've not seen him before though, I watched the first episode of Dark Place, hated every minute of it and never watched it again. The idea was funny, but it was so badly executed and the acting was just shite.
There's too much mildly-lame comedy around, stuff that could be really good if it was just 'done' a bit better. Like that Look Around You, which was okay in short doses but made me want to kick the glass out of my telly when I watched a whole half-hour of it.
"the guy in the IT crowd sounded like he was trying to do an impression of the guy from Peep Show, which wound me up a bit."
How on earth did you see that?
The black dude in TITC adopted a squeaky voice very reminiscent of something very unfunny from the early 90s. cant put my finger on it. Not anyone from Peep Show that's for sure.
The female character was just woefully unfunny as was the Irish dude.
Chris Morris saved it from being a total shambles. Admittedly though the second episode was far better than the dire first one.
but the irish guy "I shout a lot and do some physical comedy" and the lady "I like shoes, whopsee I know nothing about PC's" wern't very funny.
Richard Ayodade was funny though, along with Chris Morris. Maybe I respect Morris too much but if he associated himself with this then there must be something good about it.
is saboo ("you've never been to the crunch") from the mighty boosh.
i laughed consistently through the shoes episode. but im easily amused.
they were shit at acting shit, the premise itself was okay, they just didn't carry it off very well. I could see what they were trying to do, it just fell flat because the actors were crap at being cheesy and 'crap'. Plus it was too smug for it's own good.
And I also meant the guy, Ayodade or whatever, was putting on a voice that sounded like a bad impression of the guy from Peep Show. Apart from that, he wasn't 'trying to be the guy of peep show' (although that wasn't the point I was trying to make at all, and if you quote someone, you're supposed to 'quote what they actually said'..)
linehan left big train after the first series.
imo the only really duff thing he's written was hippies... i thought the IT crowd was alright. some very funny moments.
i guess it might appear dated as it's a uk comedy that isn't self-consciously "dark" and where people shout would-be catchphrases at you every eight seconds, which is exactly the tired format linehan says he wanted to distance himself from. fair enough.
and it was dreadful
the RTFM T-shirt was about the only vaguely amusing thing in the whole show
but watching Father Ted straight after really emphasises the 'alright-ness' of The IT Crowd.
i was decidedly unimpressed
IT WAS RUBBISH.
Apart from the afro-guys glasses. I liked those.
I want some of the giant ones.
glasses make everyone hotter by about 97.83421%
I'm much hotter then everyone else :-D
