Advice on usurping

JezCC [Edit] [Delete] 46 replies 01:14, 9 January '06

This is a strange one.

I'm friends with a girl who has a boyfriend. I think they are in a crappy relationship and I'd quite like to try it on with the girl.

1.) Any advice on how to go about this without causing offence if it fails? (i'm not friends with her boyfriend, so thats not a problem)
2.) Is it despicable to do so?

    • I've done exactly the same thing you did.

excpet i'm friends with the guy.

      I still feel half-guilty....

      • It's a terrible affliction...

at 8:am i am all bouncy and happy....by 2:pm i feel mean and horrible, and yes...half-guilty.

Peter Jackson is making a film about it.

  • A sensible person would say 'be honest' with her

    Thankfully, I'm not particularly sensible

Best time to do it, and I genuinely mean this, is when you are both drunk out and about in a club or something. You can gauge her reaction in the morning (send a vague text, or simply roll over if it went REALLY to plan), and if seems to regret it, go along with it

"Yeah I know, I can't believe we kissed. God, I feel such an idiot for getting so drunk. I'm so sorry (insert name here), can we just pretend it never happened? I'm feeling just as embarrassed as you are"

If she doesn't regret it and seems a tad flirty, then bingo baby

    • Hahaha!

      That's fantastic.

I wish I could be that smooth.

      But I'm not. I suck :(

        • I couldnt possibly say that..

          ..without dying.

          Of embarrassment. Or laughter. :)

        • Yes

          Something like that I'd imagine

I don't actually know myself, as I'm not in the habit of stealing other people's girlfriends

          God knows I've tried though

    • Come ooooon wishpig

      Don't beat on the dove

Are you seriously trying to tell me that you wouldn't fall for a line like that? Show me the woman that can, and I will show you a LIAR

      • and

how does one go about getting back with an ex who comes to visit all the time and allows the occassional kiss and cuddle?

        HeartbrokenStar @wishpig | 9 Jan '06, 01:42 | X
      • But when

she says she's not embarrassed. then you could say "yeah, so im not embarrassed either. and that's just as much as you are and that's what i meant.. soo..err.. yeah.. i really fancy you..err."

        That might work. right?

        • From a gal's perspective...

      • Fact is Jez, I see your profile picture and it says 'nice guy' and we all know what happens to them?

        You've clearly got no chance.

In all honesty, I would be dubious of someone who would leave a relationship for someone else. It kind of says that the person can't stand to be alone and people who can't do 'single' tend to end up hurting you.

          guntrip @iShotTheDeputy | 9 Jan '06, 09:08 | X
          • Cynicism? I like to call it 'Realism'

I speak only the truth, after all.

(Cynicism would be to say all Daily Mail readers are right-wing fascists, but it's not true. There are a couple of lefties who read it just to feel angry.)

            iShotTheDeputy @guntrip | 9 Jan '06, 09:19 | X
            • I am a nice guy

thats why I've so far not done anything.

But the simple situation is that I'm getting increasingly horny and I don't know any single girls.

I'm thinking she probably wouldn't be too offended if I tried it and failed, so I reckon I'll be in the clear to at least have a go.

I think you may be right Theo, but I'm so bored with being single its worth a go.

              JezCC @iShotTheDeputy | 9 Jan '06, 09:30 | X
              • no, i think we should run with Theo's idea

i mean, face it, if she leaves him for you like that, what's to stop her doing the same to you in future? huh? HUH?

                guntrip @JezCC | 9 Jan '06, 09:41 | X
                • I don't think I can trust you gunners

you did choose a seafood song title as your username. That is a bit emo.

                  JezCC @guntrip | 9 Jan '06, 10:24 | X
                  • that's a funny definition of emo

it was actually what was playing in the background when i was trying to think of a username for something else i signed up to about four years ago and i used it and since then it's stuck.

you should trust me as i am The Most Bitter Man On Earth.

                    guntrip @JezCC | 9 Jan '06, 10:28 | X
                    • seafood aren't emo

but they are loved by all my emo loving friends.

My name stems from the fact that I have no imagination.

                      JezCC @guntrip | 9 Jan '06, 10:41 | X
                      • at the risk of sounding mature

If she likes you she'd probably see you both until she decides which she likes more, or until the shiny new relationship glitter fades and she starts to get bored of you like she is/could be with current boyfriend and moves on to someone else entirely.

That said, if you're only trying it with her because you're bored of being single, you should go for it at least it'll stop the hornyness until you do meet someone single. So yeah, go for it, but don't expect too much like.

                        Slicky @JezCC | 9 Jan '06, 11:01 | X
                        • yeah

this plan is the one I'm going for the only things which can go wrong are that I might get into it a bit much and then end up emotionally scarred. Dye my hair black (badly) and get a piercing or two.
