disgusting, awful, smug, horrible, bad, crap, pointless, smug, rubbish, arse, turd, poor, pompous, yawnworthy, rich
a lot of things
but practically everything they did up to and including Pop is infinitely better than the majority of tripe released last year.
This, by the way, is fact, not opinion.
the news disappear.
prole is gonna kick yo ass!
of all time.
Worst front man ever.
in the world.
If every single copy of everything they recorded was smashed to a million pieces and then burnt and then smashed again, I would not shed a tear.
Like someone said, they apparantly have one of the greatest guitarists ever, but he doesn't DO anything great. Who said that?
That's the sign of a great gutiarist though.
Playing within yourself.
And playing the same thing over every song for 10 years.
'the edge' he seems to confuse creativity with 80ft racks of effects and processing units.
but I wasn't the first by a long chalk.
hmm, I reckon general perception probably averages out at 6/10
and of course how a band is rated depends on the people you ask
I'd give U2 3/10 for my rating
thus meaning they are overrated
am i completely on my own in the view that they are good? old stuff = absolute genius. new stuff = absolute crap.
This means as many people loathe them as love them and puts them alongside Keane and Stereophonics on this site...
They are a pile of poo!
for about ten years.
Is utter crap. If you saw a young band play it in a pub you'd laugh.
'It's our match of the day!
Don't tell Andy Gray!
We're on I T Vay! Don't let it slip away!'
Perfect football music.
where he plays like Moribund's hero The Edge, and after a while all his effects cut out, and he's playing Yankee Doodle.
possibly the worst song ever. apart from Vertigo. oh wait, and Elevation.
'who's gonna feed your wild horses' or whatever it was called. On hearing that was the exact moment I started hating those guys.
this sanctimoniously smug bunch of Jesus Army rejects - oh please let me menton Andrea Corr and Bono's hat, PLEASE!!!!
of tipping bleach into the eyes of Bono if you had legal rights to holding him in captivity for a year in every two now would you?
self righteous, insipid sickening garbage. you're right restlessboy, if you heard beautiful day, or 99% of their other output, in a pub, you'd laugh your arse off.
Not that its got anything to do with the music, but they also suck the corporate schlong while pretending to be above it all. But their music is enough to inspire pure hatred alone, so its a moot point.
when the bass kicks in on Where the Streets Have No Name though and Bamos LOVES the PSB's version of that badboy
hear any of their decent stuff in a pub. the only U2 you get in a pub IS beautiful day and all their new shite. i really hate bonos 'help whoever' bull, but they're quite down to earth actually. according to quite close sources....
if Beautiful Day wasn't by U2 if it was the same song but done by a new band and you saw them in a pub and it was their first gig or something. You'd think it was shit.
although you just agreed it was shit anyway.
so it doesn't matter.
Bono is trying to change capitalism from the inside. Whats the betting he will die a fabulously wealthy and powerful man before that happens eh?
youre such a cynic
If you could make a human being that encompassed everything wrong with western society and capitalism, and then add an immeasurable about of smugness, then a face that makes you want to grind it into a belt sander for eternity, plus some shit glasses, and a hat. This would equate to bono.
he is freinds with the founder of Apple and Bill Gates, as well as being on first names with bush and blair.
I don't know this for a fact but I reckon he also gets to kiss the popes ring regularly.
as Kelly Jones which in my book makes him a bigger cunt than Peter Sutcliffe. RIPPERUNFAIRCOMPARISONFACT.
though the first two albums are quite contextually 'good' if you ignore the Editors and the fact that Bono is on them
I did like them whent they released 'I will follow' 'Celebration' and New Years Day', what puzzled me was that although they got bigger and bigger the riffs did not change much and Bono became more and more pompous and annoying, till I now loathe him. (Ditto Sting and the Police) (I've lways hated Chris de Burgh) (I've always hated Phil Collins) (Chris Martin is rapidly trying to replace Bono in the annoying pompous stakes but he will always lag behind)
you do like SOME of their stuff. even though you might hate Bono.
kind of DIS room 101 for these people.
Perhaps Catsuited Ugmo Hawkins, and fat faced K**n* man and J*m** C*ll*m would already be in this room to greet the above
Osama Bin Laden
that would be excellant
that would also be good, these people deserve each other
Was an appalling rip off of Keep Me hanging On by the Supremes, but I can't believe that no-one else has noticed that.
U2 have squandered their bright start in music and that is inexcusible to me as a music fan, they betray the RnR ethos.
Bono is 'The Man' but not in a James Brown way more a Jack Black
all what homesick_alien, moribund, bigmanwithagun, hannah and other haters said. I hate U2 more than anything, even Lulu.
I dislike Lulu more than encroaching danger. And that ridiculous faux-LA accent of hers - this woman is almost mathmatically wrong and I bet is a real bitch to work with. Poison Dwarf with pissholse in the snow for eyes and a mouth like a dog's anus
the cut of your jib.
If I ever hear her approaching I'll invite you to throw rocks* at her with me.
*rocks = poo covered pebbles with very sharp thorns attached
can i put liam gallagher and the a-teens in to this room 101 too?
am i the only person that remembers the a-teens by the way?
They stopped being good immediately after Achtung Baby. Now they are a travesty, which is slightly unfortunate as it devalues everything they did ever.
everything they ever did? im no fan of U2, but I am a fan of, for example, the Who. Now The Who are quite obviously quite different to how they were, but do decisions taken later on in a band's career tarnish their "seminal" output? Im speaking generally here..
as some people seem to say they HATE U2, but their old stuff is ok, but they're an awful band etc. i try to see them as two separate bands, then it doesn't hurt as much...
with duran duran......
And think they are just a hollow money-making MOR travesty that makes me sick. And, I mean, I used to LIKE them. SO imagine what someone who never liked them in the first place thinks of it.
i can see that. maybe i'll make it my mission in life to try and get people to appreciate early U2 and boycott the new stuff...
I still like New Years Day and Fire adn will not allow Bono's corruption take that pleasure away from me, it belongs to me and the U2 of then, Not the modern day Bono the arse.
We worry about music being devalued, but we don't seem to worry the same way about acting.....look at Brando's career, his early acting and looks stuff will never be devalued by his decline.
it pisses me off when people can write off the who as a band just because they became stadium giants or because of pete's erm, brush with the law, or because (and this one really makes me laugh) they are still alive!People should just take the music on its own merits without paying attention to all the fluff and distractions that surround the individuals.
Having said that, Bono has always been a cock.
is that Bing/Stono will be bewildered by our hatred of them now, cos 'we're still cool right? we wear sun glasses and play rock' they will think we as bitter cos we are jealous, they will never understand (actually my secret wish is that they do, that they secretly cry at night knowing they've sold out on what they wanted to be when they were teenagers)
I Think They Are Great.
But perhaps a tad overrated :)
if 'tad' figures prominantly in bonos vocabulary, 'mega' would probably do as a substitute.....
