Worth getting for Christmas?
but now I can't read any more of this thread because I've only seen the first series and I don't want to find anything out about the second. Goodbye.
kinder scout and scafell pike.
I though there was just Twin Peaks (good) and Fire Walk with me (a bit poo)
What is it though? Horror? Surreal drama? Eh? I don't like horror...
there's a couple of freaky moments, but nothing terrifying.
i would say more of a mysterious, surreal drama, if that's helpful at all...
cant go wrong for thirteen quid can i really?
I bought the twin peaks murder mystery board game from ebay. Im sure it must have been devised by lynch coz Its ridiculously complicated and i still cant work out how to play it
but they like putting a lot of extras on it so it takes time...
legal issues over series two.
But you can buy it legally from Spain. There's always a spanish boxed set of the whole thing on DVD on eBay.
And yes it's worth buying. the Last episode is the best bit of TV ever.
And DO NOT watch Fire Walk With Me until you've seen all of season two. Just DON'T - it'll ruin it.
It's coming, it's just Lynch wants to oversee the new masters.
hehe made me laugh.
true story. :-/
is actually really good as well. Not the same as Godfather 3
Godfather III is a good film. Unlike Godfather II, it's not just the first film all over again with some good bits inserted from the past: it's got a decent plot a great ending with the whole opera thing.
And Sophia Coppola isn't particularly bad. She does a good job when you realise she was a last-minute stand in for Wynona Rider (or whoever it was).
Series 1 is 7 episodes
Series 2 is a full 22 episodes.
Then it got cancelled hence the weird ending.
There is a 90 minute pilot episode too. The UK edition of Season 1 includes the pilot, the US edition doesn't.
After 5 years the licence reverted to Paramount (or whoever) who are now putting out Season 2. Originally they planned to release it in October just gone, but Lynch asked to be able to supervise a full mastering so we're now looking at May 2006-ish for Season 2.
Season 1 is fantastic television. Season 2 is partly great but has a bad patch of five or six episodes that tread water.
a fish in the coffee pot!!
I fucking love Twin Peaks, "surreal murder mystery soap opera"
"we call her the log lady"
and also when Agent Cooper walks into his hotel room and give a little whistle a blow and has this smug self satisfied grin on his face after doing so. Its fucking classic.
surely the reason you watch anything is because you expect to/know you enjoy it?
so ner, u can get em from spain
Series 1 ends on such a cliff-hanger though, so I would recommend finding 2 as well (either imported from spain, or -cough cough- download it).
I'm not sure about what iShotthedeputy said though, about it being cancelled, because practically the whole of the series builds too, and then climaxes in the last episode, so I can't really see what else there could have been to show!
To everyone who's seen it - I know its not your conventional ending, but it kind of fits the series, don't you think?
But yeah, they cancelled it there. Then Lynch got the money together to do a film and that was to have been a wrap-up but wassisface who does Cooper wasn't free so he did fire walk with me instead.
I think I got all of this from the IMDB trivia page, mind, so it might not be total truth. Doesn't the Fire Walk with Me have a commentary? It may come from that.
just in case no one sees my post further up.
DO NOT WATCH FIRE WALK WITH ME IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN ALL OF SEASON TWO. YOU WILL ENJOY IT LOADS MORE IF YOU DON'T.
when it was cancelled there was going to be a string of films, but lynch kinda shot him self in the foot by making the first one Fire Walk With Me 5 hours long and then cutting 3hours from it leaving it making no sense.
both series (although disappointed at what happened to Audrey) I though it was really building up to some great ritulistic pagany magicy ting but then it just petered out, what a shame, he almost/nearly opened a portal/gateway with those programs.
The film was a real dissappointment in comparrison
agent cooper, and all the brunette women in it
'dianne:im holding in my hands a small box of chocolate bunnies'
leyland palmer and the Hornes dancing on the table and tha bit where the lama looks at cooper funny.
shooting bottles/blackboard/tibet/names sequence.
true.....I have sometimes found that......the breaking the bottle thing does not tell you the answer, but it lets you know when you re properly atuned, so the answer you work out at that point is probably right, cos you are operating right. (although it has been ages since I saw it when it was on terrestial telly)
is arguably one of the most important cultural reference points from the early 90s, at least as far as hilariously quirky , yet amazingly textured occult crime goes.
"His name is Bob..."
I've watched S1 so many times I could quote a lot of it off by heart. James still looks like a monkey, though, no matter how many times I watch it. S2 has its charm, but it's obvious that Lynch stops writing the scripts about half-way through. Sub-plots with no sense, apart from some gentle comedy ahoy.
And Audrey Horne... what a woman. Girl, rather. Kudos to Lynch for including Norwegians in the series too, though. "THE NORWEGIANS ARE LEAVING!!!!"
