Family Pride
the famous DiSers thread got me thinking about family members that have done something that i can say i'm proud of.
my dad's first gig was a pink floyd one when Syd Barrett was still there and he's hitchhiked through Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq. my uncle's father escaped a concentration camp by forging nazi signatures. and...that's it.
so, what family achievements are you most proud of?
my dad
was George Harrison's gardener for a little while in the late 70s. He never met him, but he once saw John Lennon arrive in a white limo, and George has a tractor painted in psychedelic patterns.
Ewwww family top trumps
okayeeee
My mum has met Bob Marley
My mum's mate was asked to go on tour with him as his personal cook. She didn't though.
One of The Specials is a relative of mine but I've never met him.
My Dad
Was Ewan MacColl's protege for a while. Until he became a teacher. Tsk tsk.
My Dad
Built our house with his bare hands! Seriously, he had to get someone else to do the plumbing and electric, but everything else he did himself!
that is scary!
my dad can't use a telephone. Or our digital TV remote.
My dad...
...is bigger than your dad: He's got eight cars and a house in Ireland.
My dad
Hates Mclusky.
My great great grandfather was the first person to lay telegraph poles down the amazon or something.
Me mam
Holds her school shot put record to this day. A record set back in something like 1975. So, so proud.
Is your mam
Mary Peters?
No
She isn't. Nor is she Geoff Capes, or even Denise Lewis. Although if me mam was Denise Lewis, I'd fancy her. Which would present a whole world of issues I don't want to get in to...
If your dad was
Geoff Capes, I'd fancy him.
Why do I type these things?
Denise Lewis
now presents the sports news on Midlands Today.
NO way!
It's come a long way from Alan Towers and Steve Lee!
Mmmmm, Shefali Oza though. I'm happy she and Nina Nannar moved down south with me. I love Shefali Oza.
There's a statement aimed at a majorly small audience right there. I need to use abandon post more often.
in what way
has Shefali moved down south? She's still on Midlands Today, isn't she?
I did a photo shoot with Nick Owen recently. It was ace.
Is she?
She's on the news down here as well, as a reporter. Or she was when I last watched. I didn't dream it. Did I?!
And what was your photo shoot with Nick Owen? Were you the models for Dear Dierdre?
sadly
I wasn't IN the photoshoot, I organised it. It was for Birmingham City Council's Fireworks Fantasia leaflet. Bet you're glad you asked now, aren't you?
LD
my grandfathers name was harold bingo, and he invented bingo
erm
my housemate's cousin is/was the drummer for the Beta Band. Moira Stewart is a distant relative of mine. A good mate of mine has Brian McFadden as a cousin. Lemmy tried to chat up my mum at her friend's wedding. Bernard Sumner was at the same wedding.
my second cousin
could be a member of the Sterophonics. But it's really nothing to be proud of. My uncle lived next to James Dean Bradfield and his cousin Sean for years. I used to post old beer mats with my number on them waiting for that call. My ex step-brother used to live in Aber whatsit called in North Wales and was asked to drum for the Crocketts at one time. I used to play violin in an orchestra in Abergavenny with Huey Mcdowell, the celloist from E.L.O.
My dad...
... delivered a bath or other plumbing paraphernalia to Alan Shearer's new house today.
My Great, Great, Great, Great (x lots) Granddad...
is Captain James Cook.
Honest.
does he
have a big hook?
..
My mother's FRIEND used to babysit Gazza. Sadly she missed the chance to drown the bugger while she could.
Well...
Not anymore...but he may have had.
He also had a big...
Ship.
and even cruiser..
did he have fish fingers?
Most probably...
Plus he also liked to take it...
into the docks. His ship, I mean.
why am i thinking
of hollywood_freak. Oh you two on deck as sailors. Mmmm, you should make a video.
:)
I'm up for it...
Hmm. This is the second "gay" sonversation i've been involved in today.
I'm not gay. Honest.

my granddad
was a painter and in WW2 he was a nurse. which makes him cool, cos he did his time in The War, and saved lives at the same time. wooyay.
Magician
Jules' uncle used to be part of the 'magic circle' and became good friends with Paul Daniels. Jules' mam used to babysit his kids.
I fucking kid you not!
I fucking...
agree.
Apparently, his kids* are a set of cunts too!
*they are probably older cunts now!
