State of your fridge

Scout [Edit] [Delete] 46 replies 12:32, 2 September '16

Is it in need of a clean? Does it work alright?

Spilled a load of soy sauce in mine, followed by knocking over some other clear liquid, I think just water. I kind of just wiped what I could see but really need to go back and lift up all the jars and wipe under them and clean them but cba.

It's also too cold, way too cold but no matter what I do it doesn't change the iciness.

PS. Got a dead rat in the freezer

  • Gave it a full-clean last week following freezer defrost-gate (detailed elsewhere)

    Antpocalypsenow | 2 Sep '16, 12:33 | X
  • I should clean it soon

but no real problems with it. It's pathetically stocked though.

  • Are you turning the dial up or down to try to make it warmer

    • It doesn't matter which way I turn it

      it is always too cold.

To be honest this has called into question everything I ever thought I knew about which number is colder. I thought the higher the number the colder the temp so 5 being coldest. Am I wrong? I hope not...fell out with an ex over this once

  • what was the soy sauce doing in your fridge?

    fridge = fine, I think
    freezer = disaster

    japes | 2 Sep '16, 12:34 | X
    • it wasn't soy but something like that

it was in a little open carton as part of a dim sum meal and I had some left and didn't just want it open in a cupboard.

      Scout @japes | 2 Sep '16, 12:45 | X

  • mine is pretty empty but quite clean.

From memory it has 2 and a half bulbs of garlic
half a tub of spreadable butter
3 types of cheese (cheddar, goats & blue)
    2 chillies
    1 green pepper
half a bottle of salad dressing
    3 double deckers
tiny remnants of some chilli jam (in jar)
half a bottle of sweet chilli sauce

    Matt_was_taken | 2 Sep '16, 12:45 | X
    • I have never put garlic in the fridge

      Good chocolate ratio

      • chocolate, cheese.. the fridge of a single person.

not sure what the crack is with garlic.. it just lives on the shelf near where the eggs usually go... where do you put your garlic?

        My freezer from memory has..
        1 pizza
        1 bag of sweetcorn
        2 packets of frozen fruit
        1 pack of ice cubes.

        Matt_was_taken @Scout | 2 Sep '16, 12:51 | X
        • I have a three tier yellow wire hanging basket thing

that garlic goes in the top tier of, middle is usually onions or something, bottom potatoes (sweet normally), however I've had fruit flies in the flat recently so now the basket is empty and all food relegated to the fridge.

      • black coffee
all teas without milk. might get some in occasionally, end up having to make Yorkshire puddings or something to use it up before it goes off as I use it for about 2 cups of tea.

        • Morrisons now do a teeny tiny bottle of milk btw

250ml I think. Perfect for your requirements

  • Needs a clean.

Hasn't been restocked for about a week and a half due to being away. There's a full pack of cherry plum tomatoes which are well past their best, quite scared to see if they're okay really.

          • He was my pet

he died, didn't have a garden to bury him, then I split up with ex, moved and had a baby, so I kind of forgot I'd temporarily frozen him to deal with later.

Burying him on an allotment next week.

  • mine stinks

it'll be alright for a bit so we don't bother cleaning it then the smell comes back.

I think it's the lettuce that my housemate buys for his stupid lizard that goes off and stinks up the place

  • Looks alright at the moment.

Bit understocked maybe, though I do have a Cadburys Mint Crisp and two (2!) Star Bars in there.

He's going to be under the same rose bush as one of the generation one rats, like it's a family crypt. Just worried about him defrosting before I get to the allotment.

how much do you waste generally?

      • most of it

I have it in a few cups of tea, over granola or something then I decide I want toast for breakfast for the rest of the week and I don't fancy tea until the milk goes off and that day fancy some again so I open another...and repeat.
