walk in get given a chocolate and leave
there will be one time you are desperate for a Christmas present and you will drop £15 on a small box of mediocre dark chocolate.
Weird how bad they are at chocolate
especially if samples are available
- feel superior to the children
- potentially solve mystery of why not gone under
to get to my local Games Workshop. It was overwhelming.
unlikely to bump into xylopwn
It is a great shop for casual browsing.
well not literally - i haven't gone full neocon quite yet.
But I am pretty happy of choosing between high-end foreign brands without fear now. Except haberdashery obv. No one can master that.
record shop - records to randomly flick through
Great for finding people who are not easily intimidated to go on adventures with
Also winds me up its the only shop that seems to be carpeted
Good coffee and lots of comfy chairs.
I bet it really annoys the staff, though, to see people lounging without buying.
Took about 5 books off the shelf and sat down with them for hours on end for a few days running.
No-one seemed to mind
(The lass in Costa just tried to remember my order based on barely a handful of visits, which was kinda nice.)
That unique odour reminds me of my childhood.
you'd park upstairs in this small car park, them come in through this tiny smiths on the roof and then BOOM you're in C&A heading for the exit. Not sure what they used to sell, really
Or can we pick independent retailers?
Weird music, nice layout, friendly staff and you can get a tea/coffee from the café downstairs and hang out in the shop if you want.
So I would say they are my favourite chain.
Great smell, loads of STUFF, minimal fancypants
You walk in and there's METAL. EVERYWHERE.
Sometimes can be difficult to find stuff mind. Shelving signs could be more comprehensive.
"ooo, that's a good price."
"ooo, I need one of those actually."
"ooo, we need a new orchid since the last one died."
"ooo, 99p hotdog and reindeer cured meat? Don't mind if I do."
It deserves its place in this thread if its also present in the other one
Nice smell of flowers, sometimes a carnivorous plant section, the smell of creosote and freshly sawn timber, mock gardens, a petting zoo.
you get swooned over and sometimes get free booze.
so it doesn't really matter.
it's just jazz and foreign languages up there
but I have warmed to the latter after initially hating it to bits.
but it's making me imagine Kim Jong-un in a crudely build rocket, so I'm a fan of it already.
I mean, that's my role here, yeah?
But they're often poorly laid out, poorly ventilated, and poorly lit. And can range in smell from "practically odourless" to "Satan's ballsack on a particularly hot day."
I like looking at the games, though.
Play the latest videogames at the kiosk thing, pick up a ludicrously priced boxset, go in that special room for classical music and listen to some Bach, touch the South Park toys, buy the latest cd singles. Great stuff.
Go in wanting a tennis racket, come out with a tent and a kayak.
Also you can try out the roller skates and bikes and that.
Full of cheese.
So friendly, so many different figurines on display, you can play games with the gang there.
Nah, just kidding.
