not my words, the words of evil sean adams
Can't we just say TV?
I don't know the answer Balonz my friend.
I'm sorry! it was a joke! Hug?
yeah it is
i just download all the american shows via bit torrent coz i'm cool
I don't watch tv because I'm not a pleb.
I need a new aerial. (and I only mentioned Netflix because I originally started writing the piece beneath one of their other suggested titles to do with apps)
stay classy, dis
our ads are more obnoxious than ever because you used adblock!!!!
But if you have a problem with sponsored #content, I'm afraid some blame must be attributed to AdBlocker.
Sites cost money to run. Adverts generate money. When people block adverts, there's less money. But people can't block sponsored content. Not yet anyway.
What about that argument is bankrupt?
got no real beef with sponsored content, lame as it is, but blaming people for adblocking when the site has been un-fucking-useable because of them time and time again, ignoring the issues, blaming 'browsing habits', porn ads, really dodgy redirects. sorry but no. i have adblock's new 'non-shitty ads allowed' and surprise i haven't seen a single ad on DiS since enabling it.
the wider issue of ad revenue also feels a lot like the 'home taping is killing music' argument. the rise in adblock was precipitated by the rise in an obnoxious amount of page-destroying, click=to-continue, dodgy pop up, malware baiting ads. people can do what they want with their own site but if you take the piss and people have an easy alternative to get rid of them then they're going to, too bad. hoist by your own petard.
I bloody love that expression.
I totally accept why people use adblocker. The site has been wrecked by stupid adverts, and all of the porn/ malware stuff etc, I would never berate anybody for using adblocker, I an totally understand.
However, that's not to say that 9082 isn't correct. People blocking adverts leads to sites resorting to using sponsored content for revenue purposes. It's true.
So yes, blame the problems with the site that led people to install adblocker.
Also blame adblocker.
But don't blame the people who have been driven to use it.
I do adblock nowadays - mainly because of football club websites with autoplay videos and DiS over the last year or two - but I'd rather see the adverts once, then switch it on if they're obnoxious rather than inadvertently block them on sites where they're not troublesome.
...your 'shower wiggles' please sean.
This post sponsored by Radox shower gel.
it's really not a bad article, particularly given that it's been paid for.
it was a really weird thing to write to a brief like that. Glad it didn't do the worst job ever. Cheers!
*PANT* "you...." *PUFF* "you..." *HUFF* "asking?" *FAINT*
50p per word, pal.
Can I commission a 20-word article on your favourite Elliott Smith album and how best to achieve peace in the Middle East please?
Sometimes I’d get it just right, but no two runs are the same, and then Spotify introduced their running app.Spotify introduced their running app.
Det. Kima Greggs,

Don’t get me wrong, [REDACTED] has always made me [REDACTED]. I’ll [REDACTED] in the shower. I’ll even ‘shake it like a polaroid picture’, twisting and twirling around the kitchen of a morning. Sometimes, if I get a bit carried away, I might even [REDACTED] at a gig, but I’m getting a bit old for that… And anyway, it looks a bit odd if you do it at a Nils Frahm show.
1) I had a choice of three titles for this post.
2) The entire text is served by them, and "Spotify introduced their running app.Spotify introduced their running app" is due to them doing the hyperlink wrong.
3) I need another shower.
4) People complaining about the adverts on here, it's fine, but you can't blame a publisher for the entire industry forcing these formats on us. We held back on so many horrid ad formats for years, and a lot of them we've had turned off within minutes.
5) Malware - you definitely were not getting that from us. The only way you might have got it was from some Google adwords which wasn't sold directly by us.
6) Advertisers isn't the answer, but what is the solution?
That you tell us what the other titles were
Seems like half the Guardian's online content is sponsored these days - which they publicise - and I know you can even sponsor a journalist's salary to write on topics of your choosing - which I don't think they make clear - and I'm pretty sure their revenue's a little higher than DiS's...
I just find anything to do with money quite awkward, and this is definitely not what I signed up for when I started a fanzine/blog as a hobby 17 years ago... but needs must. Finding £1500 every month to keep the server running isn't easy.
but also horrible and snarky.
annoyingly evil request, but to try to ensure we get more nonsense like this that you can ignore to and less adverts that BREAK THE SITE COMPLETELY can you give this a quick retweet at some point? (feel free to do it at 4am when no-one is online or now when Twitter is moving really quick with Mercury Prize bantz) https://twitter.com/DrownedinSound/status/654964506221805568
