Signed up for the end of the month. Can't wait, obviously.
Work offers it but it's a pointless waste of time and effort
But surely millions of people buying the game every year can't be wrong?
Plus it's free and I'm Scottish. I literally can't say no.
and you don't have to steal from some 85-year-old who really needs it, you monster
But I dunno, I'm new here.
Also don't think I've ever had proper flu, but now I've typed that, I'm fucked.
for that exact reason i won't be having one
Not had flu since
*Do not think I am asthmatic
I've had very severe swine flu, scarlett fever, glandular fever and currently have pneumonia brought on by flu and I'm thinking I might have the jab and see if it's any help, but it only protects against like two strains of flu anyway so does seem a bit pointless. But with my pneumonia the last few weeks I've honestly felt like I might die so might as well give it a whirl, right.
That means I should probably get a flu jab.
(asthma and other immuno compromised stuff) but I'm sceptical. Last year in particular was a bit of a miss, in that they wrongly predicted which strains would hit, so people were immunised against something that they turned out to be at negligible risk of catching, and exposed to the real bugs.
I have been strongly counselled by my doctor to have it this year as apparently we are.in for a bumper crop of flu strains. Dunno.
And I've not caught flu. A bit of noro, a few chesty colds, bronchitis, pleurisy and pneumonia. But no flu.
I have had the flu once in the past and it was fucking horrible. Fully clothed in bed, head under the covers, heating on and shivering for several days horrible. Work offered a flu jab so I took it but had a mild fever for a couple of days afterwards. Not the flu, but a reaction to it. I couldn't really call in sick so had to ride it out. I think I will just take the risk in future, I am not doing that every year.
most shamelessly transparent piece of slavedriving you can get
While they don't want me to get the flu so they don't lose my working hours, I don't want to get the flu because having it is fucking horrible. Bugger their motivation, we both want the same thing.
the only surefire way it to get flu is not to come into contact with it, so any way you can reduce that likelihood helps. It's usually airborne, so washing your hands feverishly won't in itself help. If you have a massive call centre, all it takes is one person getting it and you could have an epidemic on your hands, which- yes, is a business continuity disaster- but also really difficult to contain and deal with from an employer's duty of care perspective. I know a lot of places feel it's a punt worth taking not to have to deal with that scenario. Nobody is forced to have it. Are you against NHS employees being given it free (and virtually forced to have it?)
and haven't had heating for 4 years over winter now. What a bunch of pansies.
