Marilyn Manson was actually really good wasn't he.
Holywood dragged a bit in retrospect, but the 2 before that were great. he's had his moments since, and i can see why people have enjoyed the one from this year. one thing's for certain, he should have headlined above Eminem at Reading 2001.
Just good raucous campy fun.
Really like how people got all Think Of The Children over him.
I think i just preferred his more glam stuff or creepy stuff. Holywood had a bit too much in the middle.
the only song of his I find passable is mOBSCENE and that's a rip off of Faith No More
He also seemed to hit a point where all he did was cover songs from the 80s.
Love Antichrist and Holywood - both surprisingly melodic
Antichrist - Mechanical Animals - Holy Wood and now the latest one The Pale Emperor are all fantastic.
Going to see him at the 02 Apollo in Manchester this November, can't wait.
My favourite song is Speed of Pain... it's so wonderfully over the top.
also people criticising for people pantomime rubbish.. that's kind of the point, he's a brilliant provocateur that's plays brilliantly on the cartoonish nature of his character
I really should have read that before I posted, bloody hell - ignore me.
I don't think it even bears dwelling on so much, it was just gothic shock rock - a bit of anti-establishment fun. It had to be a bit silly.
"I tried to be nice and humor him a little. I said, 'Yesiree, that sure is some shocking satanic imagery, no doubt about it. And that one eye with no color in the pupil, very disturbing. I'd sure like to suppress that.' I mean, what do you say to Marilyn Manson?"
I'm fucking sick of people who always try to blame movies, bands, songs, or talk shows for whatever the fuck hits them today-teen suicides, drug overdoses or everything else. If someone is stupid enough to kill himself because of a song, then that's exactly what they deserve – they weren't contributing anything to the society – it's one less idiot in the world. There's too many people – if more people kill themselves over music, it wouldn't disappoint me. What would disappoint me is that people are that stupid.
