Just watched a couple of the best episodes in this 21st birthday thing on C5.
It really wasn't all that, was it?
🎵where everybody knows your name🎵
but i do think it's excellent.
properly character driven, like good comedy always is
(probably - i didn't like it but my sister watched it constantly and it had a few ok moments. the main problem for me was that pretty much every character in the program was a horrible horrible shit.)
this guy is a known troll
aren't we all?
And Rachel seemed a little self-absorbed.
Which was once good TV
Saw the holiday armadillo episode again the other day, just glorious TV.
why am i still being made aware of this programme's existence
urghhhh i hate civilization
Stop going for DiS' sacred cows like some crazy truth bomb renegade! We'e already got fyds and another might maverick just cause all of us to explode!
Comforting. Makes me feel like i'm not alone. Like I have Friends.
we (Friends-likers) are all friends
Just over acting and shouting at each other with increasing layers of make up and whiter and whiter teeth.
haven't rewatched any of it since.
and one of the best ever tv shows, anyone who says otherwise is trying too hard
You watch it cause it's comforting and then you realise it's just plain ace
It does have a handy laugh track to tell you when the funny bits are. Like the Big Bang Theory.
anyone who likes it is not trying at all.
shittest shit ever
this basically sounds a bit like if MBV had pushed the envelope a bit more for mbv:
game of thrones
buffy the vampire slayer (and all offshoots)
anything else joss whedon did
orange is the new black (probably, not seen it)
The first three or four episodes are absolutely hilarious.
it's so comforting. we call it Kind and Nice. what shall we watch, we'd ask each other. Well i could go for some Kind and Nice, one of us would reply. oh certainly, I'd certainly enjoy some Kind and Nice, the other would confirm. this was primarily because for the most part it was both kind and nice. if it were made today, I'd expect fewer homophobic and fat shaming jokes, but you know, it was the 90s and early 00s.
without anything funny happening
Ross (only marginally)
she's probably the most switched on of them, but just like messing and having fun, whilst always being harmless. she's also the one who helps teach the others the most about accepting differences.
but the insistence on pushing her character far beyond the farce of the rest of the characters means she comes a close second to ross. even when he loses his mind in the last couple of seasons it's still nowhere near as hard to believe
There's nothing like a bit of problematic to get the beeves out.
her face too. I can handle a bit of chub, but a fat face is just YUK
Mildly amusing at best but full of awful people and it's often pretty mean-spirited (which would be fine but for the fact it's so sentimental that you're supposed to like these pricks)
Right place at the right time but nowhere near worthy of it's standing.
it's far more tolerable and far less problematic
Friends is art imitating life
now everyone thinks you are a prick.
That preys on the insecurities of those not in NYC as they wonder what it would be like if they lived in NYC. They just figure out the basic core demographic and build a pimped out version of that. Only one type of this show is allowed to be popular at any one time though. Which is why people only went proper nuts for Big Bang in the UK after How I Met Your Mother had finished
Friends, SATC, How I met your Mother, Big Bang Theory, ?
lets say 'life in a popular American city' then to play it safe.
base it in NYC
Characters all to be single or in very short term relationships.
Rules of Attraction I think? Got a short, even worse version of Barney Stinson with a goatee and one of the family guy voice actors? That always pops up on daytime telly and is amazingly shit.
who was forever psychoanalysing them all and call them massive entitled babies
never fear... I... is here.
He was also the Indian guy from short circuit and short circuit 2
and Chandler made a face
it's proper gold, on par with the greats, Seinfeld, Cheers, Frasier etc.
After that it becomes mediocre comfort viewing. Seasons 5-10 are the equivalent of The Simpsons Seasons 11 onwards.
Or simply, just the one where they jump that shark.
(Ross goes golfing)
(Ross has a driving lesson)
think I watched Ross play Rugby about 60 times and it was great each time
