Hope its as good as that one with them horses in it.
nor read No Country For Old Men.
love the oppositey of both though.
Best news I've heard in a long time (pretending The Counsellor never happened).
Is Blood Meridian any good?
Although I think the style is divisive (some people think it's almost self-parody). I LOVE IT SO MUCH THOUGH.
i've only read the road and now have almost no interest in reading any more of his work.
a friend in my dissertation class was writing his thesis on him and the ideas and philosophy he described in mccarthy's work was very interesting. border trilogy also sounds structurally fascinating.
i found his prose leaden and lifeless personally.
I read the one about horses or whatever it was. The style is nicely atmospheric and makes you feel like you're watching a film (?) but it's all totally shallow and unsatisfying.
wasn't as keen on the border trilogy (still good though).
(wish i knew the full quote offhand)
is this not the case?
i've only read blood meridian but found it very heavy and affecting. got no interest in the road really but the border trilogy and whatnot are on my list.
well dial it back to 'i might read him one day' then lol
and not just because of the deep south thing
(was quite interesting reading the criticism of his work by some folks on there, though).
So it's about a fortune-telling horse going around killing people with a bolt pistol in the 1800's
It's called Horse Dickens
Or so I've heard
read the orchard keeper
read about 50 pages of blood meridian
not read any of the others
I will NOT update this post if I ever read any more
wow, i didn't know he worked at the santa fe institute
did a little googling and apparently he's mates with murray gellmann ?
kinda makes me want to read his shitty books (though admittedly i've always had the same - probably wrong - view of them as louis)
