It's pretty gross
Reckon I can find worse
I love the time it made a car go on fire.
definitely worth a visit
where the view isn't spoilt by the sight of the walkie-talkie.
(The sky garden may have to be redesigned as it was value-engineered to such an extent that it doesn't fulfill what was necessary to get planning permission)
but I'm not sure why
Really striking building. Great space(s) too.
This is one of the libraries:
Friend of a friend lived there. Took me a few minutes of looking at it to remember why it was so familiar.
london gets everything
It's like when they said The Shining is the scariest film ever made - bollocks.
I love the London skyline and this one, although it looks odd, adds to the spectacle. It probably adds to it BECAUSE it's odd.
If you want to see some shit buildings then I can offer up a couple from my home town.
The fire improved it no end
Looks like they sent a man on a horse with a cherrypicker arm to put out the fire
Looks like what someone in the sixties thought a building might look like now
this is so good
I mean what
and they just like buildings that pretend to be castles and stuff
All inspired by Nazi bunkers he reckoned.
it really is a sight to behold.
(the car park)
quite chilling and awe-inspiring all at once
the Nuremberg Documentation Centre is amazing too, as modern architects have changed it (putting a spear through Speer was the idea): https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=nuremberg+documentation+center&espv=2&biw=657&bih=700&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAWoVChMI-NPZysfYxwIVIY7bCh3iMQdd
how about this gem from The University of East Anglia, Norwich:
even though they're student halls, my friend put on a show in a kitchen during the Easter holidays and it was pretty much Maths and Throats first or second ever shows
it looks like a massive pile of cardboard boxes :)
It's actually a building you can have a tour round for Open House!
It's such a confusing space. I can never remember which side each shop is one.
which looks right out onto St. Pauls
never really pay attention to links, was too busy going "hey I recognise that building WAIT A MINUTE I LIVE THERE"
Isn't that also where Star Wars Secret Cinema is
I just enjoy being a snarky prick
I give you the place where dreams don't go to die- they are merely never born in the first place.
as I wanted it to.

the new entrance to a biog shopping centre in glasgow https://flic.kr/p/xS3H8F
and last year http://www.bdonline.co.uk/carbuncle-cup-2014-winner-announced/5070668.article
I think one of the other shortlisted entries from this year is a lot worse (http://www.bdonline.co.uk/carbuncle-cup-parliament-house-lambeth-london/5077185.article) but I can see why this won - it's pretty much everything grotesque about modern London in one place
- it's where lots of money is thrown at grotesque, bad taste schemes,
- the context of London means that new, shit buildings stand out
- London, in comparison to just about every other town and city is producing so much other good architecture
- lots of architects (maybe even the majority of them in the UK) live or work in London, so they tend to get lots of votes (eg when the new Haymarket Metro in Newcastle came second, and should have cone first)
Can never decide if it's brilliantly bonkers or just squat and shit.
like that wanky pyramid thing in Milton Keynes:
Now that makes the Co-op building look like a masterpiece
used to go there loads as a kid, one day someone dumped a bottle of bath bubbles in the jacuzzi, and the whole system must have been hooked up to it - BUBBLE CARNAGE everywhere. Amazing scenes.
and a regular cinema before that. I saw Batman Forever there. It was very very loud.
"banking is a suspicious world with potentially evil intentions" angle, that.
Has been empty for about twenty years I think, now being redeveloped for "luxury panoramic apartments"
(Panoramic views include the entirely recessioned dead end of the high street, the bowling alley and a number of car parks)
a "Best Of" facadism: http://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/gallery/2014/aug/25/face-off-when-facades-go-bad-in-pictures
Some atrocities in there.
but the link at the bottom to Russian bus stops is cool:
If nothing else, at least they made some effort for the floors to line up.
this one from athens
problem: want to build office block, church won't move
solution: build office block on ugly stilts over the church!
Coffee refinery I think. So absurdly grotesque there's a 2km row of trees blocking views of it from the road.
gets my vote
It has its bits...
(Probably not even still called that...)
But I heard that about 5 years ago.
but they're everywhere, stuff like this is worse - when they try and make something look cool and it's just ridiculous
in the middle of Southend, looks proper shit
Kind of photographs ok, but it's so comically cheap and naff-looking in the flesh.
apparently designed after 4 curling stones, as you do http://www.57digital.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/309030473_92a7eef80a.jpg
but they were four auditoriums/exhibition spaces for when it was the pop music museum.
